maltatoday, SUNDAY, 22 JANUARY 2017 32 This Week MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT JANUARY 24 Mellifluous Cello Lunchtime concert at the Oratory of St Francis Church, Valletta featuring cellist Lucie Kucharova and pianist Sofia Narmania. The programme will focus on 19th and 20th century compositions such as Gabriel Faure', Saint- Saens and Rachmaninov. The duo will perform David Popper's 'Melodie on Antoine Rubinstein theme Op 3 No 1', Gabriel Faure's 'Sicilienne op.78 and Elegy Op 24' and Josef Suk's Ballade and Serenade Op 3. The programme will wrap up with Antonin Dvorak's 'Silent Woods Op 68/ V', Saint-Saens' 'The Swan' and Rachmaninov's endearing 'Vocalise'. UNTIL JANUARY 27 Blackstar: A David Bowie Tribute Tribute party to David Bowie organised by Trackage Scheme and held at Razzett L-Ahmar, Mosta from 21:00. Featuring DJs Michael Bugeja, Ed Blank and Ben Vincenti spinning tracks from all across David Bowie's discography. There will also be a face-painting stand run by Maria Piscopo. There will be no entrance fee but donations to Puttinu Cares and Reaching Cambodia will be accepted. UNTIL JANUARY 28 The Valletta International Baroque Festival The Festival takes place between the 12th to 28th January 2017 with top international baroque musicians and ensembles performing in 24 different events in 9 different venues in Valletta. For programme details and booking, visit: http:// vallettabaroquefestival.com.mt/ index.php. EXHIBITIONS UNTIL FEBRUARY 5 What Comes After the 1 Minute of Silence? Exhibition held at Spazju Kreattiv, St James Cavalier, Valletta presented by Fabrizio Ellul and dealing with the consequences of terrorism on communities in Europe. The exhibition is divided into three parts: an installation of digital drawings, a video installation, and a panel discussion. The panel discussion will be held on January 25 and is being moderated by Mark Micallef. An artist talk on February 3 will conclude the project in which the artist, Fabrizio Ellul, discusses potential future projects based on the theme of European communities. The exhibition is curated by Matthew Attard. UNTIL FEBRUARY 26 Snuff Boxes: From Accessories to Objets d'Art Exhibition of historic snuff boxes at Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum, Mdina. Open from TODAY WHAT'S ON Birżebbuġa and its natural surrounds A cultural tour to Borġ in-Nadur, Loretu chapel and Casa lpolito, passing though country lanes and Qoton Valley organised by the Ramblers Association. Meeting place and time: Boat park, Birżebbuġa, at 09:00. Walks will be cancelled in case of very bad weather. If in doubt, phone on 9949 7080 or 7959 4267. Nature Tours on Sundays – ERA Nature tour exploring the biodiversity of Lippia, Mgarr and organised by the Environment Resources Authority. Malta Global Game Jam Annual video-game creation challenge at the Institute of Digital Games, University of Malta at 14:00. Participants will be challenged to create a board or video game in 48 hours.
