On Sunday 9 April 2017 the As- sociation organized the Fifth Mo- tocross Championship event where 18 competitors divided into four classes raced on the Motocross track. The results were as follows:- In Class A Camilleri brothers were seen to dominate this class where Clayton Camilleri on his KTM reg- istered his first win of this season. Clayton was followed in 2nd place by his brother Kyle Camilleri also on a KTM. The Camilleri brothers were followed by Muscat Trevor in third place and by his brother Paul Muscat in fourth place both riding on KTM bikes. The day's program came to an end with the Demolition Derby for Small Cars up to 4 meters (13 feet) in length. In this edition 15 drivers participated in their modified cars as per the ASMK Demolition Rules. The 15 drivers were: - Jason Ma- gro, Mauro Cassar, Stefan Farrugia, Jonathan Abela, Christian Cremona and Adrian Bonnici all on Skoda Fa- vorit cars. Karl Mizzi was driving a VW Polo, Aaron Brydon on a KIA, Leo and Frank Butler both on Maz- da cars, Wayne Mallia on a Subaru, Brian Mascari on a Peugeot 205, Clint Farrugia on his Lada, Larkin Butler on a Suzuki Swift, Christian Agius on a Daihatsu and Charles Falzon on a Renault car. During this game of these cars which is the last journey before go- ing to the scrap iron heap the cars drove for two demonstration laps on the track right before starting the banging as allowed by the rules of the Demolition Derby. Soon cars started to change in shape and size before the eyes of the several hun- dreds of spectators who were safely in the paddocks. Though the Demolition Derby lasted just over about 18 minutes one could see the ability of the driv- ers despite the voluntary collisions under strict race regulations. The game for the Winner and a Runner- Up ended between Brian Mascari on his Peugeot 205 and the Suzuki Swift of Larkin Butler as all the rest had come to a holt. In a few more minutes the winner was to be de- termined. Here we saw that Brian had his vehicle in a better condition to that of Larkin yet both made at- tempts to continue this game to the end. The Demolition was terminat- ed when Larkin Butler surrendered to his immobile car and Brian Mas- cari was declared as the winner of the 2017 Small Car Demolition on his Peugeot 2015. Larkin Butler won the Runner-Up on his Suzuki Swift. Both were presented with trophies and celebrated in front of all present. The Association informs that the next Demolition is scheduled to take place on 17th December just before Christmas 2017. Also, the Admin- istration wish to inform the public that since there are ASMK Moto- cross riders who will be participat- ing in the FMI Regional Motocross Championship the race of the 7 May will be held on the 21 May 2017.
