15 WHAT'S ON MUSIC THURSDAYS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 21 Jazz Nights at Pjazza Regina Following last year's successful run of events, our Jazz Nights will be returning to Caffe Cordina, Valletta every Thursday until September 21 at 20:00. A five- piece band will once again create a lively atmosphere with jazz classics and original improvisations for three hours. SEPTEMBER 22 Cat Cake Concert by the indie rock band Cat Cake at Rumours, Pieta. Featuring DJ sets by Luke Scerri and Daniel Abdilla. Doors open at 20:00. Entrance is at €5. SEPTEMBER 23 Rotting Christ in Malta Acclaimed Greek metal band Rotting Christ will be performing at The Garage in Zebbug, together with X-Vandals and Decline The Fall. Doors open at 20:00. On October 7, the performance will be a Notte Bianca special at 18:30, which will include a complimentary welcome drink and a post- show Q&A session with the actors and director. THURSDAYS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 28 Maltese Nights at Valletta Waterfront Take in the scenic Grand Harbour views and re-live traditional Malta at Valletta Waterfront every Thursday evening until September 28. Activities include traditional folk dancing, falconry displays, "terramaxka" (street organ) music, artisan market stalls, as well as duelling parades between the Knights of St. John and the Ottoman Turks, amongst other activities. FESTIVAL UNTIL SEPTEMBER 24 The Bubble Festival Eco-friendly festival of music, crafts and other entertainment at Ghajn Tuffieha beach, Mellieha. Taking place from 15:00 onwards from September 18 to 20 and from 11:00 from September 20 to 24. One hundred percent of the profits from the festival will be donated to environmental & humanitarian causes. This year the benefeciaries are The Youth Hub by the Right to Smile Foundation in Malta, Jose Depiro Kabataan Orkestra in the Phillippines & The Gaia Foundation in Malta. Bookings: https:// thebubble.com.mt/tickets/. FILM SCREENING SEPTEMBER 22 The Congo Dandies Screening of the short film 'The Congo Dandies' at Bir Mula Heritage, Bormla at 19:30. The film deals with the sociological phenomenon of the "sapeurs" in Congo, "living in poverty and spending a fortune to look like a million dollars". Entrance is at €7 for Malta Sociological Association members, €10 for non-members. WORKSHOP UNTIL SEPTEMBER 21 Performative Machines: A Kazin Barokk Workshop Taking inspiration from baroque stage mechanisms, the workshop will be exploring the performative nature of machines. Participants will be working in small groups to design, develop, and test a number of mechanisms using both digital and analogue prototyping techniques. Entrance is free of charge. Taking place at D-Team, Design & Technology Learning Centre, Santa Venera. Doors open at 10:00 on September 18 with an introductory session with an additional session being held at 19:00. Participants are welcome to join as they are able or wish. Transport may be provided, depending on participation.
