6 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 8 JULY 2018 LISTINGS WHAT'S ON EXHIBITIONS UNTIL TOMORROW Exile Voices Philanthropist, idealist, hu- manist and renowned photo- journalist, Reza Deghati, has spent the last 40 years sharing with the world his unique pho- tographs capturing people, cul- tures and traditions, thereby enabling a deeper understand- ing between human beings. The priority of Reza is to provide visual education to vulnerable communities in order to give them the means of becom- ing trained and able to express themselves through photogra- phy. The exhibition will be held at the Grand Master's Palace in Valletta and entrance is free. JULY 12-29 Misc Exhibition Misc is an exhibition showcas- ing works of ten Fine Art stu- dents in the Department of Art & Art History, Faculty of Arts, at the University of Malta. The exhibition has been organised entirely by the students them- selves, and all the artists and their lecturers will be present at the opening event. Entrance is free and refreshments will be available. MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT JULY 13 Burhan Ocal – Bosphorus Quartet Valletta 2018's music pro- gramme is hosting a colourful musical melange delivered by Burhan Öçal's Bosphorus Quar- tet. Öçal is a multi-instrumen- talist of international repute – a regular guest at leading jazz fes- tivals who has given numerous concerts around the world. His roots in Anatolian, Thracian and Balkan music are at the core of his mission to combine dif- ferent genres and cultural tra- ditions, which he set out to do upon discovering Western mu- sic. Burhan Öçal's Bosphorus Quartet will be taking place in Misraħ iż-Żjara ta' Papa Ġwanni Pawlu II, Mellieħa. JULY 30 – AUGUST 30 Rock'N Malta Rock'N Malta will feature various concerts throughout August. Featuring Gogol Bor- dello and Brodu on 30 July, Ju- lian Marley and The Upsiders, as well as ManaTapu on 18 Au- gust, Dark Tranquility, Evergrey, and Colourblind on 24 August, and Kaiser Chiefs and Bila on 30 August. Ticket information and purchase is available from the Rock'N Malta page on Face- book. MUSIC AND NIGHTLIFE AUGUST 14-15 Summer Daze Malta Summer Daze Malta will fea- ture three main events. Tues- day 14 will see two events. A free party at Ta' Qali featuring Martin Garrix, Rita Ora, Danny Howard, and more, and an af- ter party at Numero Uno. The festival will close with a sun- set pool party at Café Del Mar on Wednesday 15, with Roger Sanchez, Monki and Kristen Knight. Book your tickets on summerdazemalta.com. THEATRE JULY 13-22 MADC As You Like It Directed by Philip Leone-Ga- nado and starring some of Mal- ta's best established and up-and- coming actors, accompanied by live music, MADC presents a fresh and accessible take on the classic comedy under the stars in the inimitable setting of San Anton Gardens. Performances run from Friday 13th to Sunday 22nd July at 8:30pm. There will be no performance on Sunday 15th July. Tickets at 15 euro and 20 euro. Opening night tickets at only 12 euro. FESTIVALS JULY 16-21 Malta Jazz Festival The Malta Jazz Festival is back this July. This year's edition will be held between the 16th and 21st July. The main concerts are held on Thursday 19, Friday 20 and Saturday 21 in Valletta. The weekend will feature various local and international artists, as well as Jazz Island, a visual journey through 27 years of the Malta Jazz Festival. JULY 19-22 Malta International Food Festival Malta's unique fortified me- dieval city Mdina will be host- ing the 4th edition of the Malta International Food Festival be- tween Thursday 19 and Sunday 22 July; 4 days of gastronomic alfresco eating and drinking, culture & history, as well as en- tertainment for everyone. Des- ignated food areas are carefully decorated to give the visitors the opportunity to virtually trans- port themselves to the coun- tries and regions being depicted through the culinary expertise of the chefs. JULY 20-22 Marsovin Wine Festival The Marsovin Summer Wine Festival is back! As always the event plans to have a highly cul- tural and entertaining concept, by presenting a myriad of pro- fessional musicians perform- ing daily, whilst offering a vast selection of over 30 certified D.O.K. and I.Ġ.T. quality wines from grapes grown around Mal- ta and Gozo. All of the wines can be enjoyed by visiting the different wine bars, carefully spread around Hastings Gar- dens. Upon entrance a fee of €20 per person must be paid, this fee includes wine tokens and a Premium festival wine glass to use during the event and also to take home. Wine tokens can be exchanged at all wine bars in the form of a taster, by the glass or by the bottle. Entry tickets will be available for purchase in advance starting from Fri- day 22nd June from The Master Cellar in Naxxar and Marsovin Cellars in Paola. AUGUST 9-12 Delicata Classic Wine Festival The Delicata Classic Wine Festival is back for its 17th con- secutive edition. As always, the festival will be held at the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta, between the 9th and 12th of August. Entrance is free, with wine glasses and purses sold until 11pm and wine poured up to 11:30pm. Live cooking stalls will be serving a tempting variety of both traditional Mal- tese and international dishes to tease a wide range of palates. AUGUST 24 - 26 Malta Craft Beer Festival 2018 The first ever edition of the Malta Craft Beer Festival will take place in St Elmo on the 24, 25 and 26 of August 2018. With the best craft beer brands on the island, some of the fin- est street food you can find and the top alternative bands and DJs, this festival is set to become a fixed appointment in your summer calendar. For this spe- cial anniversary screen- ing, Yellow Submarine was restored in 4K digital resolution, though no au- tomated software was used in order to preserve the original, hand-drawn art- work. Directed by George Dunning, this musical fantasy comedy film sees The Beatles agree to ac- company Captain Fred in his Yellow Submarine and go to Pepperland to free it from the music-hating Blue Meanies. Cinema entrance to watch these two screen- ings is FREE but includes a €5 donation which will go directly towards Turtle Rescue projects carried out by Nature Trust Malta.
