15 COMMERCIAL maltatoday | SUNDAY • 8 JULY 2018 Third edition of the Malta Architect Awards launched IMNG Ltd, with the support of the Planning Author- ity, launched the third edi- tion of the Malta Architect Awards, which recognise finished high-quality pro- jects designed by local ar- chitects. Over the past years the Malta Architect Awards has helped raise a positive awareness about the value of architecture in our Island and the culture of excel- lence that certain architects achieve with their projects. No matter the limits of size and scope, projects are eval- uated for their form, func- tion, innovation, quality and energy efficiency . The awards will be an- nounced in October 2018 by a jury composed of both lo- cal and foreign profession- als within the field. The jury will also be supported by an expert member in their own fields in accordance with the categories' topics. Planning Authority Ex- ecutive Chairman, Johann Buttigieg, said that the main goal of these awards was to reward those architects who were contributing to a posi- tive leap in the quality of de- sign in the urban context. "This is the third year we are promoting these awards because we believe that they also serve to instil within the local architects' profession a positive determination and competitiveness," he said. "The authority is aware of the challenges it faces as a regulator in the develop- ment sector and the use of land. The authority remains committed to not only speak about the necessary leap in quality, but to be at the forefront itself, striving to be a reference point with regard to the quality design and service." Interested periti and inte- rior designers may submit their projects until 31 July. Registration and payment can be done at www.archi- tectawards.com.mt, where there is also further infor- mation as well as all regula- tions for this competition.
