New visual identity reinforces Kinnie's credentials MALTA'S own favourite soft drink, Kinnie, has been given a new contemporary visual identity which features in a multi-channel communica- tions plan. The new brand identity, strongly reflected in new packaging designs, reinforces the brand's premium creden- tials, inviting consumers to re- discover 'The biggest flavour under the sun'. "An intrinsic part of Maltese life, Kinnie will surprise and delight consumers with its new packaging and commu- nications. This summer, Kin- nie will be celebrating simpler times, drawing on its heritage as 'The Mediterranean classic since 1952'," said Maya Mus- cat Azzopardi, brand execu- tive for Kinnie. Susan Weenink Camilleri, Head of Marketing & Com- munications, said the compa- ny had looked at world trends and listened to local consum- ers across generations and across the Maltese islands. "The result is a redesigned brand that takes a positive step forward, whilst making a warm and nostalgic nod to the past," she said. "The package line-up includes a new 1-litre bottle as part of our strategy to offer consumers more choice in line with evolving con- sumption trends. As we look towards further expanding Kinnie to overseas markets, this redesign indicates our de- termination to establish Kin- nie as an equally loved brand outside Maltese shores." The Kinnie portfolio in- cludes Kinnie, Diet Kinnie and Kinnie Zest, produced, marketed and distributed by Simonds Farsons Cisk plc. Novel EU study system EDU for human medicine approved DURING a ceremony host- ed by Education Minister Evarist Bartolo, Digital Edu- cations Holdings Ltd was licensed by the Maltese au- thorities as an 'Institution of Higher Education'. In parallel, DEH's 'Bachelor of Medicine' was accredited by the National Commission for Further and Higher Edu- cation within the European Qualifications Framework. For the medical degree pro- gramme beginning in No- vember 2018, applications are now open at EDU, DEH's academic platform. EDU combines hands-on practical training with digi- tally-supported instruction formats in a student-centric approach to adaptive learn- ing. The medical degree pro- gram consists of a three-year Bachelor'd degree that will be followed by a consecutive two-year Master's degree in human medicine. Compris- ing a total of at least 5,500 hours of combined theoreti- cal education and practical clinical training, its certifica- tion of at least 300 ECTS ful- ly complies with the relevant European requirements. The theoretical subjects are covered by high-quality digital content available to students in a virtual learn- ing environment, where teams solve tasks of increas- ing complexity and receive individual feedback from dedicated tutors. These the- oretical foundations are im- mediately linked to medical practice during the clinical training that students attend in small groups at high-qual- ity teaching hospitals. Clini- cal partner at launch of the 'Bachelor of Medicine' are Helios Kliniken GmbH, one of the largest providers of in- patient and outpatient care in Europe. Currently, EDU's teaching hospitals are locat- ed in Germany, among oth- ers in Berlin, Erfurt, Krefeld, Oberhausen and Wiesbaden. Hospitals in other EU and African countries will follow soon. With today's launch, the Re- public of Malta is spearhead- ing the implementation of the European Union's 'Digi- tal Education Action Plan'. It also contributes to expan- sion and transformation of the global health workforce, as set out in the WHO Global Strategy on Human Resourc- es for Health. "Digital learning makes an important contribution to the broadening of medical education and training. Com- bining online instruction in diverse teams with the clini- cal training at the patient's bedside in high-quality re- gional hospitals holds great promise for many regions that currently lack sufficient numbers of qualified medical personnel," Health Minister Bartolo underlined. Visit www.medical.edu.eu for more information about degree programmes offered by EDU. Prospective stu- dents will find comprehen- sive information on content and structure of the "Bach- elor of Medicine" and may submit an online application starting today. @ maltatoday
