THIS final edition has been launched six months after Malta has been crowned Capital of culture for Europe in 2018 and following a vast number of events organised by the Valletta 2018 Foundation to celebrate this title. The creation of this wine collection followed suit after the Foundation partnered up with Marsovin to produce a series of three wine private labels to commemorate the historic title of Valletta as European Capital of Culture. This initiative also paved the way to a strategic part- nership between these two entities which would see Marsovin and its wines as the official winery support- ing this important event. All three wines fall un- der the category 'La Valette Premium Selection' where- by Marsovin's winemak- ing team have selected only the very best hand-picked D.O.K. quality grapes from the winery's own estates to produce these special edi- tion wines. Ageing of over 18 months in oak barriques provides the wine with a sustained ageing potential with the 3rd Edition being made from a premium blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. This collection provides the Maltese public with a se- ries of limited edition wines which they can collect as a token of this historic event. The label design is inspired by two elements ever pre- sent in our Capital; the typi- cal Maltese balcony and the stone carvings which adorn the walls of St John's Co-Ca- thedral. The wine is available for sale in all leading outlets and from the Marsovin Cellars. Now, less than one year later, the ground floor restaurant and terrace has offi- cially opened. Directors and other guests from Vassallo Group attend- ed the official opening last Wednesday which was led by group Chairman Nazzareno Vassallo and CaterEssence Ex- ecutive Chairman Ing. Alex Tranter. Guests on the night were given the opportunity to sample some of the new menu food items and cocktails. Inspired by the world re- nowned Spanish painter, sculp- tor and ceramicist Joan Miro, restaurant MIRO seeks to ex- plore new ways of dismantling traditional perceptions of food and bringing experiential din- ing to the table for their cus- tomers. At MIRO, land meets sea and simplicity meets sensa- tional, unlocking the power of imagination and taste. MIRO is located next door to The George Hotel in Triq Pace- ville, Paceville and offers free parking to all their customers at the car park located right be- neath the restaurant. These last seven years, were, however, no hiatus for the artist as he has participated in several collective exhibitions and has incessantly produced paintings that continue to be in great demand by lo- cals and foreigners alike. Zammit Tabona's latest exhibition, titled "Water- colour Madness", is being held in the Exhibition and Concert Halls of Palazzo de La Salle, the seat of the Malta Society of Arts in Valletta. It will showcase new compositions of the "fuoridentro" room-with- a-view type, as well as Zammit Tabona's musings on the landscape. "Fuoridentro" was a term aptly coined by the late Professor Fr. Peter Ser- racino Inglott, and which Kenneth has unwaveringly continued to develop over the years. These paintings feature interiors full of all things beautiful, items that the artist has close to his heart: lavish textiles, exotic motifs, chinoiserie, Mal- tese silver, and the like. All of the rooms that fea- ture in the "fuoridentros" are also dotted with several still life motifs over which the eye can wander. These include fresh fruit, flow- ers and vases, birds, foun- tains, furniture, obelisks, lamps - elements that have become ubiquitous with Kenneth Zammit Tabona over the years, as are the chequered tiles. Kenneth is the Artistic Director of the Manoel Theatre. He is also Artis- tic Director of the Valletta International Baroque Festival, chairman of the Valletta and Floriana Re- habilitation Project, and the President and Found- er of the Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts. This exhibition will be bringing together a signifi- cant collection of works which were painted over a number of years by this seasoned artist whose works are much loved by the public. "Watercolour Madness" is being held with the generous support of Arts Council Malta, and is be- ing organised as part of the Malta International Arts Festival and Valletta 2018.
