Coca-Cola celebrates Malta and Valletta THIS summer, you can take a piece of Valletta with you back home in the form of three Coca- Cola bottles which were specially designed to celebrate Malta and its capital city, Valletta! This year, the capital city of Malta, Valletta, is being hon- oured with the prestigious title of European City of Culture. The Coca-Cola Company is celebrat- ing this occasion by dedicating three limited edition Coca-Cola contour bottles developed by the local young artist Maria Graziella Zammit and inspired by the rich culture and history of Valletta and the Maltese Islands. The designs of the limited edi- tion Coca-Cola contour bottles were inspired by decorative de- tails found in some of the most historical buildings in Valletta and specifically the designs em- bedded in the majestic ceiling and balconies of the Manoel Thea- tre, the palace armoury and the grandiose paintings found in the halls of the Grand Master's Pal- ace. Other inspirations were the traditional Maltese balconies and the Valletta skyline, especially the steeple of St Paul's Pro-Cathedral. Coca-Cola, through its lo- cal bottler GSD Marketing Ltd, teamed up with MCAST Institute of Creative Arts and asked stu- dents to develop a concept which celebrates the fact that Valletta was being honoured with the title of European City of Culture. Out of more than 200 submissions, the concept presented by Maria Graziella Zammit was chosen and developed to produce these three magnificent Coca-Cola limited edition bottles. ''We are proud to present to our customers this project that pro- motes our rich local culture. It is a great honour that during the year where our capital city is being honoured with the title European Capital City of Culture, historical landmarks in Valletta are featured on a Coca-Cola bottle which is one of the biggest brands in the world. This project is further en- riched by the fact that the designs were made by a local young artist'' said Maria Micallef, CEO of GSD Marketing Ltd. These limited edition Coca-Co- la bottles will be available at sou- venir shops and at local cafes and restaurants. Express Trailers to support Alive2018 cycling charity EXPRESS Trailers will be sup- porting this year's ALIVE2018 Cycling Challenge for Cancer by providing all the logistics and transport of the cycling equip- ment from Malta to Austria. Besides this logistical support, Express Trailers is also support- ing one of its employees who is currently training to take part in this gruelling 1,200km challenge. Amanda Bellizzi, in fact, has been training since March of this year for this epic Transalp cycling challenge due to start on the 19 July. Together with the rest of the group, she will be cy- cling approximately 170km every day for seven days, from Vienna to Salzburg, through the Brenner Pass, along Lake Garda to Milan. The group is expected to reach its destination on the 28 July. "This is my second time tak- ing part in this challenge since I also did it last year and I can say it was an amazing and unforget- table experience," said Amanda Bellizzi. "This is why I decided to take up the challenge again this year because I find it inspir- ing that I get to practice a sport which I love and raise important funds for a noble cause." All athletes are following a de- manding training program given that the challenge requires dedi- cation and commitment. The whole group meets every Sunday for group training but all partici- pants are expected to clock their own training hours during the week. "I feel very proud of the fact that our company Express Trail- ers not only encourages me to participate but is also making a donation to this cause and is supporting all the team through the logistics involved given that Express Trailers enjoys business connections and affects regular deliveries between Malta and Austria," added Amanda. An avid cyclist, Franco Azzo- pardi, Chairman and CEO of Express Trailers knows a thing or two about the challenges of long-distance cycling and com- mended Bellizzi for her com- mitment and for dedicating her time an effort to such a noble cause. "Cycling is a sport very close to my heart but the reason the com- pany is supporting this challenge also stems from the fact that we are constantly advocating for saf- er roads for the more vulnerable road users such as cyclists. We are also very proud of our com- mitted employee who has chosen to dedicate her time and effort to this noble cause. The least thing we can do is make sure that our logistical support contributes to a successful adventure," said Franco Azzopardi.
