17 COMMERCIAL maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 18 JULY 2018 MAPFRE Middlesea embraces digital changes to move forward MAPFRE, a global Insur- ance company operating in 47 countries across five con- tinents, has launched the Digital Challenge, in an at- tempt to adapt the company's working culture to the rapid changes in technology. The Digital Challenge has four lines of action: work en- vironment with flexibility and agility; technological mobility tools towards a more collabo- rative work and knowledge sharing; new behaviours and ways of leadership and dif- ferent ways of compensating and recognising employees, namely feedback on a day-to- day basis and short-term ob- jectives. "All of us in MAPFRE must be committed to providing solutions for this new reality. This technological and social disruption we are experienc- ing spawns opportunities for our business and our com- pany. The greatest challenge will be to have a team capa- ble of dealing with this digital challenge," stated MAPFRE's Chairman and CEO, Antonio Huertas. This concept is also being embraced by MAPFRE Mid- dlesea in Malta. " The Digital Challenge is driving a change in our way of working, which will allow us to move success- fully forward in a digital en- vironment. This change must come hand-in hand with new behaviours and habits that can help us adapt our culture to this new reality, taking ad- vantage of the strengths and values of MAPFRE, which have always characterised us," said Felipe Navarro, President and CEO of MAP- FRE Middlesea. "Our main objective is to enable each one to carry out his work at any place and in any time, managing his own time, always according to the business needs and the com- promises of each one with the other colleagues, meetings, projects and training. The most important thing is no longer the presence. What matters is to achieve the re- sults and our objectives, devel- oping our projects and adding our value to the company. We need to be trust based and re- sults driven, focusing on the output rather than the input, " Ines Silva, Chief Officer HR at MAPFRE Middlesea said. This Digital Strategy will allow decisions to be taken quickly and efficiently, putting the client at the centre of all work. "What we want is a work environment less hierarchical and much more collaborative, diverse and based on mutual respect where the communi- cation, active listening, em- pathy and trust are key", said Ines. As part of this strategy, MAPFRE is also working on new work spaces that allow for more cooperation innovation, agility, productivity, well- being and closer hierarchical relations.
