MUSIC AND NIGHTLIFE SEPTEMBER 1 -2 Sickfest '18 Malta's Alternative / Elec- tronic Summer music fes- tival is back! The event will have five areas, six live bands and 28 DJs. Bands in- cluding Fuzzhoney, Kill The Action and Eyes to Argus will be performing. There will also be a silent disco with two simultaneous mu- sic channels blasting out tunes on hundreds of wire- less headphones. Get your tickets from their Facebook event at 15 euros or at the door for 20euros. THEATRE UNTIL AUGUST 26 L-Ikla t-Tajba L-Ikla t-Tajba creates the ultimate community ban- quet! Through the collabo- ration of the Valletta 2018 Foundation, feast your eyes, and stomachs on an inter- active take on the ultimate Maltese meal featuring in- gredients from our past, delicacies of today and a weird and wonderful food experience for all audiences to enjoy. No we will not let you go home hungry, after the performance everyone is invited to join our com- munity meal, and enjoy a traditional majjallta. Dine on slow-roasted pork with local grown vegetables and potatoes, cooked to perfec- tion, and sip on a glass of wine, homegrown in Gozo, all catered by Ta' Mena. AUGUST 31 AND SEPTEMBER 2 Ahna Refugjati The opera, which is the first Maltese work of its kind, addresses timely con- cerns in the Euro-Mediter- ranean region, the human cost of large-scale immi- gration and the universal theme of loss as a result of political convenience, rac- ism and prejudice. Aħna Refuġjati recounts the story of Eleja, his wife Shari, and their three children aged 20, 18 and 10, who f lee from their war-torn village in Syria after witnessing atroc- ities during the civil war, in hopes of a better life in Europe. The opera follows the family's struggles with crossing borders, the lack of basic human rights, racism, separation and loss, on a journey motivated by hope. SEPTEMBER 6-9 Boulevard Teatru Manoel and Teatru Malta join forces to present an adaption of one of Francis Ebejer's greatest theatrical works on the 25th anniver- sary of his death. This new production features leading Maltese actors and dancers from ZfinMalta directed by Toni Attard and choreo- graphed by Paolo Mangiola. The play will be performed in Maltese. Tickets can be bought from the Treatru Manoel website. SEPT 14 -23 Stitching The banned play, Stitch- ing, fill finally be showing in Malta, at the Manoel Thea- tre next September. An- thony Neilson's masterpiece dealing with loss will be shown after it was banned for many years, hosted by Unifaun Theatre Produc- tion. Tickets for the 18+ play can be found on the Teatru Manuel Website at 20 euro. FESTIVALS AUGUST 24 - 26 Malta Craft Beer Festival 2018 The first ever edition of the Malta Craft Beer Festival will take place in St Elmo on the 24, 25 and 26 of August 2018. With the best craft beer brands on the island, some of the finest street food you can find and the top alternative bands and DJs, this festival is set to be- come a fixed appointment in your summer calendar. More details can be found on https://w w w.facebook. com/craftbeerfestival.mt/ SEPTEMBER 17 - 24 The Bubble 2018 – A Festival of Life The Bubble returns to Malta this September for a week-long festival of music, art and workshops all cele- brating the magical essence of life. The non-profit event will be marking its 8th edi- tion this year, once again aiming to spread positive awareness of the environ- ment, the arts and commu- nity in a festive and engag- ing way. And that means 100% of the funds raised from the festival goes to en- vironmental and humani- tarian causes. AUGUST 23-25 Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival 2018 The XIIIth edition of the Malta Mediterranean Lit- erature Festival organized by Inizjamed will be held on Thursday 23, Friday 24 and Saturday 25 August 2018 at Fort Manoel on Manoel Is- land in Gżira at 8.00pm. The pre-Festival events start on Sunday 19 August. Entrance to all events is free.
