6 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 2 SEPTEMBER 2018 LISTINGS WHAT'S ON Delicata Classic Wine Festival 2018 - Nadur, Gozo Organised by Emmanuel Delicata Winemaker in col- laboration with the Nadur Lo- cal Council, the Delicata Classic Wine Festival in Nadur, Gozo is back for its 16th Consecutive year for 3 nights between the 31st August and the 2nd Sep- tember. Each night the Festival will start at 7pm and run until midnight. Gozo's biggest Wine Festival is held in Nadur's scenic garden Ġnien il-Kunsill with the spectacular panoramic country and sea views of the valley lead- ing down to Mġarr harbour tak- ing in the islands of Comino and Malta. SEPTEMBER 1 -2 Sickfest '18 Malta's Alternative / Electronic Summer music festival is back! The event will have five areas, six live bands and 28 DJs. Bands including Fuzzhoney, Kill The Action and Eyes to Argus will be performing. There will also be a silent disco with two simultane- ous music channels blasting out tunes on hundreds of wireless headphones. Get your tickets from their Facebook event at 15 euros or at the door for 20euros. AUGUST 31 AND SEPTEMBER 2 Ahna Refugjati The opera, which is the first Maltese work of its kind, ad- dresses timely concerns in the Euro-Mediterranean region, the human cost of large-scale immi- gration and the universal theme of loss as a result of political convenience, racism and preju- dice. Aħna Refuġjati recounts the story of Eleja, his wife Shari, and their three children aged 20, 18 and 10, who flee from their war-torn village in Syria after witnessing atrocities during the civil war, in hopes of a better life in Europe. The opera follows the family's struggles with crossing borders, the lack of basic human rights, racism, separation and loss, on a journey motivated by hope. ENTERTAINMENT SEPTEMBER 9 Holi Malta 2018 Hundreds of people, dressed in white, come together to share in music, dance and visual eu- phoria during Holi Malta. Be part of this colourful experi- ence, inspired by the indian fest Holi: People paint themselves with various colours and throw colourful powder in the air to express the freedom and to col- our their everyday life. The most important thing is, that on this day all castes of the indian caste- system are nullified and put out of force. On this day of celebra- tion all people are supposed to be equal! This is where the idea to bring this festival to the rest of the world come from. SEPTEMBER 6 MAL-BAHAR / CONVERSATIONS WITH THE SEA Leave your mark on this site- specific installation that invites community members to con- tribute their experiences of love, loss and longing to a collective collage along the pontoon. Mal- Baħar / Conversations with the Sea is a site-specific installation along the San Ġorġ Breakwa- ter Pontoon (located next to the Birżebbuġa Local Council) which aims to create a physical and experiential path along the pontoon through the position- ing and the interaction with ob- jects in the space. These objects recall familiar settings and fos- ter a thought journey through the locality's past, present and possible future events. MUSIC AND NIGHTLIFE SEPTEMBER 8 Otto Knows at Ministry of Sound Malta Ministry Of Sound presents the Swedish super star Otto Knows. Known for his smash hit song "Million Voices". Headlining at Ultra Music Festival, Tomor- rowland and now for this spe- cial event in Malta. He has col- laborated with artists including Britney Spears, Avicii, Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso and has made remixes for ATB, Imogen Heap, Lindsey Stirling and others. He is best known for his songs like "Starlight (Otto Knows Remix)", "Parachute", "Next to Me", "Dy- ing for You" and "Million Voic- es". Tickets can be found on their Facebook event. SEPTEMBER 9 The Aristocrats THE ARISTOCRATS are hit- ting the road in September 2018 for select dates in Europe! The band will be performing at Teat- ru Salesjan on 9 September for a massive night featuring Guthrie Govan, Marco Minnemann and Bryan Beller! The event, which is a memorable experience every year, will fea- ture some of Malta's best sing- ers and performers. Tickets are available in standing, seated, and even a limited number of VIP. SEPTEMBER 15- 16 Elrow Malta – Psychedelic Trip Elrow has finally arrived in Malta! The international party which promises craziness and confetti will be held on the is- land on the 15-16 September at UNO, Ta Qali. The event will include the likes of Dubfire, Camelphat, Toni Varga, Andrea Campo, and homegrown Carl Bee. Tickets can be bought on https://www.ticketarena.com. mt/ticket/?event=427874 THEATRE SEPTEMBER 6-9 Boulevard Teatru Manoel and Teatru Malta join forces to present an adaption of one of Francis Ebe- jer's greatest theatrical works on the 25th anniversary of his death. This new production fea- tures leading Maltese actors and dancers from ZfinMalta direct- ed by Toni Attard and choreo- graphed by Paolo Mangiola. The play will be performed in Mal- tese. Tickets can be bought from the Treatru Manoel website. SEPT 14 -23 Stitching The banned play, Stitching, fill finally be showing in Malta, at the Manoel Theatre next Sep- tember. Anthony Neilson's masterpiece dealing with loss will be shown after it was banned for many years, hosted by Unifaun Theatre Production. FESTIVALS SEPTEMBER 17 - 24 The Bubble 2018 – A Festival of Life The Bubble returns to Malta this September for a week-long festival of music, art and work- shops all celebrating the magical essence of life. The non-profit event will be marking its 8th edi- tion this year, once again aiming to spread positive awareness of the environment, the arts and community in a festive and en- gaging way. And that means 100% of the funds raised from the festival goes to environmen- tal and humanitarian causes.
