A year of successes by Domino's MAPFRE Middlesea supports local historians MAPFRE Middlesea has proudly spon- sored awards towards Maltese historians whose publications have contributed to- wards historical studies. The Malta Historical Society, which was founded in 1950, works to distribute knowledge about the history of Malta and to safeguard Maltese historical heritage. The NGO promotes the discussion of history through public lectures and by disseminating the results of historical research and debate through its publica- tions. It also speaks for the interest of his- tory and historians and offers awards to those historians whose publications have contributed towards Maltese historical studies. The awards acknowledge excel- lence in scholarly articles on Maltese his- tory published in Malta and abroad by es- tablished Maltese and foreign authors as well as articles by new entrants in the field of historical research. "We value the importance of our heritage and our history and that is why we choose to support the Malta Historical Society. We must not forget the path that led us to where we are now," Chairman Martin Galea said when presenting the sponsor- ship cheque to Prof. Roger Ellul Micallef.
