maltatoday | SUNDAY • 9 SEPTEMBER 2018 17 COMMERCIAL Members of Frank Salt Real Estate family give a helping hand in Cambodia NICOLE Saliba and Julia Schembri, two members of Frank Salt Real Estate's sup- port staff, have taken on the brave endeavour to travel to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with the Reaching Cambodia Foun- dation and participate in vol- untary work in a residential centre that is home to children and youth aged between three and 20 years old. Frank Salt Real Estate has always given, and goes on to give, priority to its corporate social responsi- bilities, and is extremely proud of its people who taken on such admirable initiatives. Nicole and Julia are spending their days with the children, taking care of their general well-being and education. They are teaching multiple core sub- jects such as reading, English, maths, and basic hygiene. They are spending time playing with the kids, doing crafts, dance and engaging them in all sorts of fun and educational activi- ties. Apart from that, the girls are helping around at the resi- dential centre with cooking, laundry, cleaning, and other daily chores. "It's a roller coaster of emo- tions here", explains Julia. "The kids are so happy; they are al- ways laughing and even though they don't have much, they make the best out of the little they have and their simplicity is everything". These are the same children who have rickety sheds for houses and who, at the tender age of six, are working to maintain their families who consider money to be more im- portant than education. Various activities were organ- ised locally to help raise funds for this trip to become a reality. The team at Frank Salt Real Es- tate managed to raise a gener- ous amount of money towards this cause. "We wish our girls the best of luck in this life- changing experience and every success in trying to alleviate some of the hardships these children have to endure on a daily basis. We encourage, our staff and the general public, to support charities like Reaching Cambodia in their remarkable work. Every little bit helps", said Director, Godfrey Swain. Follow Nicole and Julia, and their team of volunteers, on the 'Reaching Cambodia' Fa- cebook page. Donations to the Reaching Cambodia Founda- tion may be made via their website www.reaching-cam- bodia.com. We thank you for your support. Game on! Reduce! Reuse! Recycle! JUST how good is your knowl- edge on waste management? Are you a waste expert or rubbish at rubbish? While we are much more aware nowadays about the importance of sustainable waste management, waste prevention and the "reduce, reuse, and re- cycle" concept, it is essential to continue raising awareness fur- ther, while reminding each and every one of us about not only the importance of good waste management practices, but also about the need to shift towards a more circular resource ap- proach. Each and every one of us generates waste and therefore each and every one of us should be responsible in ensuring prop- er waste management; be it indi- vidual, family or community. Good waste management practices have a direct and huge impact on our environment. In a bid to find out more about the public's knowledge and percep- tion on the waste situation in Malta, the Don't Waste Waste campaign under the Minis- try for Environment, Sustain- able Development and Climate Change has launched an online game. The aim behind this game is to engage the public in under- standing more about good waste management practices and the initiatives which are ongoing in Malta and Gozo. At the same time, everyone can test their own knowledge on this impor- tant environmental challenge in a fun manner. The game is relatively easy, fun to play and engaging. It will challenge you to separate your waste correctly and test your knowledge on sustainable waste management practices, how and where to separate and what is true about waste issues and what is not. With every correctly com- pleted game, you'll earn points, and completing these challenges awards you achievements which you can see on a public leader- board and compare yourself to other players. The game can be played on PC, Tablet and Smart- phone and is a fun way to chal- lenge your friends and family. So, continue to do your bit for waste and play this game from dontwastewaste.gov.mt where you'll also find brilliant helpful tips and ideas on how to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill, upcycling, recycling and saving what can be reused.
