It-Tawmaturgu: Il-Hmura ta' Filghaxija - Anthony Fenech Mark Anthony Fenech's literary debut is a science fi ction novel written in Maltese published by Horizons, which is also one of the short listed fi nalists for the Best Novel 2018 Book Prize. The author writes in a genre which is seldom used within Maltese literature – the language is not readily associated with the genre. The language employed is interesting and unusual, doing away with the idea that Maltese is limited. The premise of the story is how humanity takes an active role when it comes to its own evolution by means of hyper- advanced technology. This theme has been present in the old mythologies in the fi gures of the gods, idealised rep- resentations of humanity, and in modern and contemporary mythologioes in superheroes found in comics and fi lms. All this occurs with humanity's expansion beyond the solar system in the background. The reader encounters space battles, societies peopled by cultures which seem almost alien-like, planets like our own world and humans who are very different from us. Haruki Murakami – Killing Commendatore The epic new novel from the internationally acclaimed and best-selling author of 1Q84 and Norwegian Wood. In Killing Commendatore, a thirty-something portrait painter in Tokyo is abandoned by his wife and fi nds himself holed up in the mountain home of a famous artist, Tomohiko Amada. When he discovers a strange painting in the attic, he unintention- ally opens a circle of mysterious circumstances. The Future of Capitalism – Paul Collier In a passionate and polemical book, celebrated economist Paul Collier outlines brilliantly original and ethical ways of healing these rifts – economic, social and cultural – with the cool head of pragmatism, rather than the fervour of ideological revivalism. He reveals how he has personally lived across these three divides, moving from working-class Sheffi eld to hyper-competitive Oxford and working between Britain and Africa, and acknowledges some of the failings of his profession.
