EXHIBITIONS 5 OCTOBER – NOVEMBER 2 Parallel Existences In his long-awaited new exhibition, celebrated pho- tographer Alex Attard cre- ates alternative identities for historical, centuries-old documents that were severe- ly damaged during the war, and which have since formed part of the Notarial Archives in Valletta. These never seen before, mangled and distort- ed volumes have lain static, buried in boxes, out of sight, for decades – their reason for being, gone. Parallel Exist- ences will be on show at Val- letta Contemporary in Val- letta between 5 October and 2 November 2018. SEPTEMBER 25 – OCTOBER 27 Nisga: Storja Kontemporanja Can the Maltese artist be de- fined? … is there a preference for particular topics or themes ? … and does the nation come into this definition? A team of curators and crea- tives have come together to present the complex and mul- tifaceted identity of the Mal- tese artist. Twentieth century works of art from public and private collections, including works in traditional media juxtaposed against video art, have been carefully chosen to create meaningful dialogues. Works on display include key pieces, some of which have rarely been on display or most- ly known through books. The event is free at Spazju Kreattiv. THEATRE OCTOBER 13 - 28 Tebut Isfar Ġorġ has lived with his daughter in his little coffin shop in Valletta for all he can remember. But now a developer has set his sights on buying the shop to build a boutique hotel. His wife comes along and makes a strange request. She wants a yellow coffin. Could Ġorġ be tempted to sell? But what is the big secret he is hiding in the kitchen? This play will be staged at VCT (ex MITP), Valletta in October 2018. The script will be published. The play is written by Clare Azzopardi and will be direct- ed by Marcelle Teuma. The cast is made of Peter Galea, Leigh Ann Abela, Mariele Zammit and Anthony Ellul. OCTOBER 19 - 28 AMADEUS by Peter Shaffer – Masquerade Theatre Company The world-renowned Peter Shaffer play 'Amadeus' will be staged by Masquerade Theatre Company at the Te- atru Manoel later this year. Directed by Stephen Oli- ver the play features some of Malta's finest perform- ers as the play's leads and supporting roles, including Thomas Camilleri as Mozart and Manual Cauchi as Sa- lieri. 'Amadeus' follows the lives of composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and An- tonio Salieri in a fictional- ised history of their intense competition in 18th century Vienna, and Salieri's bitter env y in the face of Mozart's musical genius. Amadeus will have six per- formances at Teatru Manoel, Valletta between 19-21 & 26-28 October 2018. Tickets will be available via w w w.te- atrumanoel.com.mt OCTOBER 19 -28 De-terminated: The Abortion Diaries Premiering in October, 'De- terminated' weaves out the in- tolerance, the frustration and cacophony eclipsing the abor- tion issue in Malta. Based on one-on-one interviews carried out in 2017, the one-act play brings out the stark reality of a dilemma often played out behind the scenes. With the strictest abortion laws in the world, is Malta suppressing women's rights or is the coun- try really preventing murder of the unborn? Watch it at the Spazju Kreattiv Theatre for €20 / €15 (students and senior citizens). SOS! ABBA Revival - The Tribute will take place at Gianpula on November 9 Watch De-terminated: The Abortion Diaries at Spazju Kreattiv between October 19-28
