THE new-look Mercedes Benz C-Class range combines emotionality with intelli- gence. The design of the exte- rior and interior benefits from a stylish makeover whilst the electronic architecture is completely new. The vehicle's appearance is defined by its front and the design of the headlamps and tail lights. With the model facelift, the AMG line features the diamond radiator grille as standard. The front bumpers have been redesigned for all lines. These new designs render the Exclusive exterior even more expressive and lend the Avantgarde exterior a yet more dynamic character. The C-Class has a new dis- play concept which includes an optional, fully-digital in- strument cluster with the three visually distinguishable styles "Classic", "Sport" and "Progressive". For the first time, a high-resolution cen- tral display in 16:9 format is available, with a 10.25-inch screen diagonal and a resolu- tion of 1920x720 pixels. The C-Class has touch-sen- sitive controls in the steering wheel, whilst the infotain- ment system can additionally be operated via the touchpad with controller in the centre console or by means of Lin- guatronic voice control. The sporty interior exudes class, featuring flowing forms in a new interpretation of modern luxury. The centre console is characterised by an elegant flowing trim element – optionally with new materi- als: open-pore brown walnut or open-pore anthracite oak. The Multicontour Seat package is new to the C Class, with this package the side bol- sters and lumbar support can be individually adjusted by means of an electrically driv- en pneumatic pump. A massage effect in the lum- bar area is provided by air chambers which are inflated and deflated in a pulsing or wave-like motion when the function is activated. The new C-Class features the latest Mercedes-Benz driving assistance systems of- fering the driver cooperative support, and therefore pro- vides a higher level of active safety than its predecessor. The new C-Class comes with extended Active Brake Assist as standard. Depending on the situation, this can help to mitigate the consequences of rear-end collisions with slow-moving, stopping or stationary ve- hicles ahead, and even with crossing pedestrians and cy- clists, or prevent them alto- gether. The optionally available multibeam LED headlamps are also new to the C-Class. Each headlamp incorporates 84 individually controllable LEDs. These allow extremely quick and precise, electroni- cally controlled adjustment of the headlamps to suit the cur- rent traffic situation. New functions in compari- son to the previously available LED Intelligent Light System are junction light, rounda- bout light, city light and bad- weather light. Energising comfort control (optional) links various com- fort systems in the vehicle. It systematically uses the func- tions of the climate control system (including fragrance) and the seats (heater, ventila- tion, massage) as well as light- ing and musical moods, and enables a specific wellness set-up tailored to the mood and need of the driver.
