City's procession towards the three points was initially held up by Clarets keeper Joe Hart, making his first return to Etihad Stadium after end- ing his 12-year stay in the summer. Hart, a huge crowd favour- ite during his spell at the club, made superb first-half stops to deny Sergio Aguero and David Silva, but was power- less to stop Aguero firing home as the duo combined to round off a neat passing move. Hart's afternoon was soon to get a lot worse. Burnley barely threatened before half- time but their hopes were only truly extinguished when City added two more goals in two minutes shortly before the hour mark. There was some controver- sy about City's second goal, which came after Leroy Sane went down in the area under a challenge by Jack Cork. Referee Jon Moss waved play on but the Burnley de- fence stopped, allowing Silva to retrieve the ball before it ran out of play, and cross for Bernardo Silva to sweep his shot home. Burnley's manager Sean Dyche and his players con- tinued to protest as the game resumed, although it was unclear whether they felt the game had been stopped, or that the ball had gone behind before David Silva reached it. It clearly played on the Clar- ets' minds, however, and their usual defensive organisa- tion was nowhere to be seen when, seconds later, a corner was cleared as far as Fernand- inho on the edge of the area and he found a sublime finish. From that point, the game was over as a contest, al- though the City fans still had more reasons to celebrate, firstly when a fit-again Kevin de Bruyne appeared off the bench for his first appearance since the opening weekend of the season. There were more goals to come too as Fernandinho teed up Riyad Mahrez to curl home a superb fourth goal late on, and Sane converted a Benjamin Mendy cross. Unbeaten Manchester City secure 5-0 win over Burnley A last-gasp Ross Barkley goal saw Chelsea salvage a 2-2 draw against Manchester United af- ter an Anthony Martial double had put them on the brink of three points. Barkley pounced from close range in the 96th minute to spark a wild ending to the game at Stamford Bridge as Jose Mourinho was involved in a scuffle by the tunnel with one of Chelsea's backroom staff. Until then it looked like a happy return for Mourinho after his side had produced a much-improved second half to come from behind and lead 2-1 in the closing stages. It was largely one-way traf- fic in the first half as Antonio Rudiger nodded Chelsea in front with a free header from a corner and the hosts enjoyed the majority of possession but could not find a second goal. Chelsea had a brighter start to the second half too but Mar- tial's first goal ten minutes after the restart - which came with a couple of deflections and with a Chelsea defender down injured - changed the game. The goals gave United a real lift as they were a stride quick- er after drawing level - and if there was some fortune about Martial's first his second had some real quality in the build- up and in the curling finish. The morale-boosting three points were reduced to one though with almost the last kick of the game as David Luiz hit a post with a header, David De Gea superbly saved Rudi- ger's rebound and Barkley slot- ted home to save a point.
