These never seen before, mangled and dis- torted volumes have lain static, buried in boxes, out of sight, for decades – their reason for be- ing, gone. Parallel Existences will be on show at Valletta Con- temporary in Valletta between 5 October and 2 November 2018. UNTIL OCTOBER 27 Nisga: Storja Kontemporanja Can the Maltese artist be de- fined? … is there a preference for particular topics or themes ? … and does the nation come into this definition? A team of curators and creatives have come together to present the complex and multifaceted identity of the Maltese art- ist. Twentieth century works of art from public and private collections, including works in traditional media juxta- posed against video art, have been carefully chosen to create meaningful dialogues. Works on display include key pieces, some of which have rarely been on display or mostly known through books. The event is free at Spazju Kreattiv. NOVEMBER 8 – 29 Saudade - Paintings by Gabriel Buttigieg In his new body of work Gabriel explores with beaut y the strained nature of experi- ence. By establishing identi- t y through memory, nothing remains unmoved. Gabriel 's paintings array how cultural memory is a reconstructive affair where through colour, tone, and emotion, specific events are constantly recol- lected or revalued. 'Saudade' opens on the 8th November 2018 at Palazzo de la Salle, Republic Street, Valletta, and runs until the 29th No- vember 2018. THEATRE UNTIL OC TOBER 28 Tebut Isfar Ġorġ has lived with his daughter in his little coffin shop in Valletta for all he can remember. But now a developer has set his sights on buying the shop to build a boutique hotel. His wife comes along and makes a strange request. She wants a yellow coffin. Could Ġorġ be tempted to sell? But what is the big secret he is hiding in the kitchen? This play is be- ing staged at VCT (ex MITP), Valletta during October 2018. The script will be pub- lished. The play is written by Clare Azzopardi and is being directed by Marcelle Teuma. The cast is made of Peter Galea, Leigh Ann Ab- ela, Mariele Zammit and An- thony Ellul. OC TOBER 19 - 28 AMADEUS by Peter Shaffer – Masquerade Theatre Company The world-renowned Peter Shaffer play 'Amadeus' will be staged by Masquerade Theatre Company at the Te- atru Manoel later this year. Directed by Stephen Oliver and featuring some of Mal- ta's finest performers as the play's leads and supporting roles, including Thomas Camilleri as Mozart and Manual Cauchi as Salieri, 'Amadeus' will have six per- formances at Teatru Manoel in October 2018. 'Amadeus' follows the lives of com- posers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri in a fictionalised history of their intense competition in 18th century Vienna, and Salieri 's bitter env y in the face of Mozart's musical ge- nius. The play AMADEUS is being performed at Teatru Manoel, Valletta between 19-21 & 26-28 October 2018. Tickets will be available via w w w.teatrumanoel.com. mt.
