31 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 4 NOVEMBER 2018 SPORTS MOTO GP MANCHESTER United manager Jose Mourinho says now that Anthony Martial is "much closer to being a top player" and that he "would like him to stay" at the club. The France striker's agent claimed last summer that Martial wanted to leave the Old Trafford club. His contract runs out next summer and United have the option to extend it by another season. "I know the club wants him very much to stay, so hopefully he is going to stay," said Mourinho. Martial, who scored 11 goals in 45 appearances last season, missed out on a place in France's 2018 World Cup-winning squad. He has four goals in his last four games for United, having started each match. "One thing is that he's a talented player that every- body knows he is - since he was in Monaco, everybody knows he was a talented player," added Mourinho. "Another thing is, a tal- ented player with consist- ency and understanding of what a football match is in the globality. "So, when you reach that level or when you are al- most reaching that level, it's when you become a player - what I say, a top player. "Because one thing is top talent, another is top play- er. "So, when he is now much closer to being a top player, obviously I would like him to stay." Mourinho wants Anthony Martial to stay at Old Trafford INDONESIA is set to join the MotoGP calendar in 2021 with a new street circuit in Lombok. A delegation by MotoGP promoter Dorna, including series chief Carmelo Ezpeleta, vis- ited the island three weeks ago and a formal announcement is expected. The contract for construction of the track has been awarded to Vinci Construc- tion, which has been allotted a land of 131 hectares surrounding Mandalika, a busi- ness area located in the southern region of Lombok island. Vinci will also serve as the chief inves- tor of the race, with the French company's contribution expected in the region of €900million. Should the track be constructed in time, it would mean MotoGP will finally secure a place in one of the world's largest two- wheel markets. Ezpeleta first hinted about hosting a street race in Lambok last year. "It is possible that there is an urban cir- cuit in MotoGP," he said. "In theory, a straight of the track will be urban and the paddock will be covered, integrated in an exhibition centre. Thus during the grand prix it will be used for the race and during the rest of the year for many other things." Finland and Mexico have been vying a spot on the MotoGP calendar for some time but were not included in the 2019 schedule, keeping the race count at 19. "Until 2021, we will certainly not make more than 20 grand prix a year. From there, we'll see," Ezpeleta told Autosport. "We have many demands for circuits that want to celebrate a race. Those who have contracts will respect them, but from there they will have to negotiate." Indonesia street race set to join MotoGP calendar FOOTBALL
