ACTIVITIES NOVEMBER 23 -24 Utopian Nights at the Chinese Garden of Serenity Utopian Nights invites the public to engage with specific contemporary is- sues to promote a more inclusive so- ciety. With artists and local as well as international thinkers, the public will participate in a collective effort to de- sign a utopia, an alternative society for a better future. The upcoming edition, The Utopian Nights on Commons, takes place on the 23rd and the 24th of November at the Chinese Garden of Se- renity in Santa Lucia. DECEMBER 7-8 Jimmy Carr Live in Malta Jimmy Carr is bringing 'The Best Of, Ultimate, Gold, Greatest Hits World Tour' to Malta on the 7th and 8th of December! Known for his fantastic repertoire of jokes and one-liners, and lightning- sharp delivery, Jimmy is gathering a selection of his very best jokes along with brand new material for the ulti- mate comedy show. MUSIC AND NIGHTLIFE DECEMBER 8-9 Like...The Beatles The BBC Beatlemania is hitting Malta! It's the magical sixties again, when four young lads took the world by storm. Back then, millions around the world followed The Beatles through radio shows TV appearances. The band sold millions of records and albums around the globe at a time when the internet wasn't even a dream. Till this very day, songs by The Beatles are played over a million times a day. Like...The Beatles will feature one of the most exciting of- ficial Beatles tribute bands around. The concert will be held at one of Malta's finest indoor theatres – The Mediter- ranean Conference Centre (MCC) in Valletta on the 8th and 9th of Decem- ber 2018. EXHIBITIONS NOVEMBER 8 – 29 Saudade - Paintings by Gabriel Buttigieg In his new body of work Gabriel ex- plores with beauty the strained nature of experience. Establishing identity through memory, nothing remains un- moved. Gabriel's paintings array how cultural memory is a reconstructive affair where through colour, tone, and emotion, specific events are constantly recollected or revalued. 'Saudade' opens on the 8th November 2018 at Palazzo de la Salle, Republic Street, Valletta, and runs until the 29th November 2018. NOVEMBER 17 – DECEMBER 9 Vo_eracity Lazuli Art Gallery – a Fair Trade Gal- lery of Primitive Art which also curates contemporary exhibitions of both local and international artists in winter – is launching the first collaborative exhibi- tion of father and son Paul & Thomas Scerri, of sculptures in different medi- ums entitles Vo_eracity this November in Victoria, Gozo.. The sculptures will be exhibited at 83 Palm Street, Victoria Gozo, between November 17 and De- cember 9. CHRISTMAS 15 DECEMBER – 16 DECEMBER Magical Christmas Concert 2018 – MCC Valletta Malta's most anticipated Magical Christmas show is back for the 4th consecutive year as the Mediterranean Conference Centre is expected to turn into one energetic concert on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th December 2018. Shine a Light along with Mickey and Minnie together with the Malta Na- tional Children's Choir. The Magical Christmas concert will be held on Sat- urday 15th (7.30pm) and Sunday 16th December 2018 (4pm) at the Mediter- ranean Conference Centre, Valletta. At the christen- ing of Princess Aurora, Maleficent, the evil Fairy, casts a spell on the baby prin- cess. Eighteen years pass and the spell puts Aurora to sleep. Prince Charming with the help of Dame Nanna Kola and Muddles fights Maleficent and her whole army to break the evil spell and rid the land of the evil Fairy once and for all. Sleeping Beauty is a rip roaring tale that will take the audience, young and old, from one adventure to another, with side splitting gags, laugh out loud slapstick, chases and good old "good versus evil". The panto will be held at the Manoel Theatre from 23 December to 6 January. 23 DECEMBER – 5 JANUARY Jack and the Beanstalk – The Panto All his life young Jack has only ever had one dream - to become a famous knight. Unfortunately he comes from a dirt-poor family that can't even afford to keep up with the ever-increasing rent. One day, his village is attacked by gi- ants who take away the girl he loves - presumably to eat her. Jack needs to pluck up the courage and climb that beanstalk to make the tran- sition from zero to hero, from nobody to somebody, from loser to legend.
