16 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 27 JANUARY 2019 COMMERCIAL SsangYong unveils Musso Grand FOLLOWING yet another successful year, boasting of record-breaking sales in both the domestic and international market, SsangYong Motors has unveiled the newest addition to its product line; the Rexton Sports Khan, to be released as the Musso Grand in Europe later on during this year. Following the 2011 acquisition of SsangYong by Mahindra and Mahin- dra Ltd, the Korean car manufacturer has seen an impressive amount of in- vestment and innovation leading to its unprecedented growth. This business strategy has allowed SsangYong to test new waters as well as to continue grow- ing their already popular and successful products. The SsangYong Musso Grand is a by-product of this rising prosper- ity. This new model plays on the suc- cess and global acclaim of the popular SsangYong Musso which sold more than 42,000 units in Korea last year. The new version of the model shares the basic blueprint of the SsangYong Musso, however, engineers at the Ko- rean company have improved on ve- hicle specifically to target drivers keen on outdoor activities and leisure sports, and require more storage space for their equipment. The Musso Grand is 31 centimeters longer than its counterpart, with a 5.4 metre-long body. The height and wheel- base have also been increased by 1.5cm and 11cm, respectively. The long-bod- ied vehicle is highlighted by an increased load capacity of 1,262 liters, which is up 24.8 percent from the Rexton Sports. This enables the Grand to carry up to 700kg on its deck, up by 75 percent from the previous model's 400kg. The Grand's e-XDi220 LET diesel en- gine offers high fuel efficiency while re- maining quiet with added high perfor- mance and reliability. The Musso Grand offers an output performance of a maxi- mum 181 ps, or metric horsepower, and torque of 42.8 kilogram-metres. Maintaining a similar exterior design to the 2018 Musso, the Grand shows off a well-sculpted front with slick head- lights on top of its highly-durable im- proved grille. The fierce profile of the Musso Grand complements its curves and spacious cargo hold. With regard to the interior design of the vehicle, much remains similar to the pre- vious model. The well-fitted quilted nap- pa leather seats compliment the spacious natural feel of the vehicle. The Grand also employs a high volume of technological features available to their drivers, such as, multi-adjustable seating, automated air- conditioning, ambient night-lighting, cli- mate control and the supervision cluster ensuring a modernised and comfortable driving experience. The additional enhancements de- signed for the new SsangYong Musso Grand have elevated the already popu- lar pick-up vehicle into an even stronger market position, with many drivers al- ready keen to try their hand behind the wheel.
