16 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 10 FEBRUARY 2019 COMMERCIAL DOUGLAS Salt, Frank Salt Real Estate Director has re- cently returned from a trade mission in Turkey, the aim of which was to raise awareness of Malta's property mar- ket amongst Turkish estate agents and Turkish nationals looking at investing or pur- chasing property overseas. Salt also participated in a trade mission in Turkey organised by the Malta Chamber of Commerce with the President of Mal- ta, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, on her state visit to Turkey. The mission provided Frank Salt Real Estate with the opportunity to show- case Malta's property offer- ing and explain the lucra- tive investment potential that real estate in Malta delivers. Following the event, the company is now making the necessary arrangements to bring down to Malta Turk- ish companies and high net worth individuals who at- tended the B2B meetings organised by the Cham- ber, along with their coun- terparts in Turkey, giving them the chance to experi- ence the island's potential first hand. Malta is a country with big possibilities for Turkey, Douglas Salt said, following his visit. "Acquiring property in Malta by third party na- tionals for retirement purposes, or to take up applicable residence and citizenship programme, re- mains popular with many foreign nationals interest- ed in the lifestyle and com- mercial advantages Malta offers," he said. "Consequently, invest- ing in a property with the aim of eventually turning it into a profitable rental has become a common trait in Malta for many Maltese, namely because of the in- creasing demands for such accommodation from lo- cals, foreign students, workers and expats who decide to relocate or retire to the Maltese Islands." Cardona brings extensive experience to the position and decades of involvement, having worked in the five-star hospitality sector for her en- tire career. She first joined the hospital- ity industry in the front office department, before switching to leisure sales seven years ago, and then taking on the responsibility of online and MICE sales at the Radisson BLU St Julian's. She took over the manage- ment of corporate sales for the same hotel early in 2018, before joining the team at the Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa later in the year, in the new role of Director of Sales. "It was the right time to take on a new challenge and a good time to transfer into this posi- tion," Cardona said. "I have been able to create the role of Director of Sales from scratch as opposed to stepping into someone else's shoes, so that has also been an interesting aspect of the job and an opportunity that I have relished." Cardona said the Corin- thia Palace is currently going through some exciting tran- sitions that will maintain the charm of this historic prop- erty while also propelling it to new levels of service and luxury. "This hotel is definitely on the map and there are huge opportunities for us to make the most of, not least with the development of the Mriehel corporate playground near- by," she adds.
