6 MARCH 1-5 Karnival It's that time of year again! The Karnival ta' Malta is one of the oldest historical festivals in Mal- ta, with just under five centuries of credited and documented his- tory dating back to the Knight's of St John's occupancy in Malta. New artistic creations are born while traditions are kept alive and revived, particularly with the revival of satire, a fundamen- tal facet to the historical Mal- tese Karnival. This year taking place between the 1st and 5th of March, find the full programme here https://www.karnivalta- malta.org/programme. Ballu Tritoni Following last year's success, Malta's unique carnival parade 'Ballu Tritoni' is coming to the heart of Valletta once again on Saturday 2nd March, as part of this year's edition of Il-Karnival ta' Malta! Theatre MARCH 15 – 18 Macbeth Teatru Manoel presents an exciting new production of one of Shakespeare's most fa- mous tragedies. Shakespeare's tragic masterpiece about am- bition comes back to Malta in this wonderful production. Victorious from battle, heroic Macbeth allows three witches to feed his inner darkness and ambition so that he commits regicide and becomes king. Egged on by his wife, Macbeth commits this atrocious act while the king is resting inside his castle. To hold onto pow- er, Macbeth becomes blood- thirsty, leaving a trail of blood anywhere he goes. The oppo- sition finally unites with the English forces and Macbeth is defeated.
