17 COMMERCIAL maltatoday | SUNDAY • 10 MARCH 2019 BURMARRAD Group, a lead- ing supplier of new and used commercial and private vehi- cles, has invested more than €200,000 to introduce a nine strong fleet of fully electric Peugeot Partner. The Partner L1 Fleet is ca- pable of fully recharging from zero percent to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes at an electric vehicle docking station. The same vehicle can also be fully charged at home in just eight hours. With one full charge, the zero-emissions Peugeot Partner can achieve up to 170 kilometres per gallon equiva- lent. Sharon Gauci, director at Burmarrad Group said, "as one of the largest suppliers of commercial and private vehi- cles, we continuously strive to diversify and adapt to the cur- rent needs of the market. Thus we were fully in favour to get behind this green initiative and successfully implement it." When asked if consumers are still wary of purchasing elec- tric vehicles Gauci emphasised that this is simply the way for- ward. "It's the future, less mainte- nance, less overall costs. All of these factors will help busi- nesses cut costs and thrive fi- nancially." In his speech at the official launch on Thursday evening, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat applauded the efforts of the Gauci family. "With this investment, Bur- marrad Group is taking the first step towards recasting the cultural tendencies in the com- mercial sector," expressed the Prime Minister. He went on to say, "We need to change the cultural percep- tion of the transport sector. We must move towards simi- lar initiatives. Such change can only be brought about with a strong collective effort which includes us politicians, inves- tors, and consumers alike." When opting to purchase and register such vehicle, a government grant of €7,000 is applicable while de-registering and scrapping another vehicle of the same category which must be ten or more years older from its original year of manufacture. On the other hand, a €6,000 grant is applicable when regis- tering a new electric vehicle of the aforementioned category. In addition to that, no licence fee is issued for the first five years of registration, thereafter a payment of €10 will apply. Burmarrad Group introduces nine fully electric vehicles to its operations WITH a proven track record in place, 2019 has seen Broadwing Limited take another impor- tant step in the right direction. SSANGYONG enthusiasts will be hap- py to know that the SsangYong's latest Sports Utility Truck (SUT), the Musso Grand, is set to arrive on Maltese shores next month. Unveiled in Korea earlier this year, the Musso Grand (branded Rexton Sports Khan in Korea), is a long-bodied ver- sion of the Korean automaker's popular Musso; the game-changing pick-up truck known for its class -eading safety features, fierce performance and overall affordabil- ity. While the Musso Grand shares most of its features with its short-bodied counter- part, certain notable features in perfor- mance and design have been upgraded to target those keen on outdoor activities and leisure sports, who require a higher payload. The Grand's cargo platform has a length of 1,610mm allowing for a total capacity of 1,262ltrs, pushing the vehicle's overall length to 5,405mm with a wheel- base of 3,210mm while its load capacity has been increased to 1,020kg owing to the vehicle's heavy-duty leaf spring sus- pension in the rear. Under the hood, the Korean vehicle comes equipped with a 2.2l e-XDi220 tur- bo-diesel engine with an increased power output of 420Nm in order to deal with the vehicle's increased load capability. Unlike the original model, the Musso Grand will not include a manual gearbox and will only feature a 5-step automatic transition. The long-bodied SUT, like all SsangYong models, will boast a substantial number of safety features including emergency breaking, frontal collision warning, blind zone monitoring and cross-traffic track- ing when reversing. The interior has been kept identical to the short-bodied model including heated leather seats, climate control, automated air-conditioning and a state-of-the-art infotainment system. While the exterior design has also been kept the same as the original Musso, with sleek curves complementing the vehicle's fierce presence, two notable differences in the Musso Grand differ- entiate this model's design; its custom grille and inscription on the rear flap. The bespoke grille, features vertical jumpers inspired by the Greek Parthe- non, which conveys a timeless and clas- sic design and the inscription bares the long-bodied SUT's 5-letter model name 'GRAND'. The SsangYong Musso Grand which is set to be available in Malta in April, will have a 5-year unlimited warranty, guar- anteeing a superior and well-equipped vehicle synonymous with the SsangYong brand.
