APRIL 11 – 14 Lord of The Flies Teatru Manoel Youth Thea- tre is proud to present Lord of the Flies by Nobel Prize winner William Golding. The classic novel, a potent allego- ry about the loss of innocence and the decline of civilization, is brought to dramatic life in Nigel Williams' adaptation. A plane crashes on a deserted island. The only survivors are a group of young adults. By day, it's a tropical paradise of sun and sea; but each night, their dreams are inhabited by a terrifying beast. Recom- mend age group: 8+ APRIL 6 Manon Lescaut Manon Lescaut is the op- eratic production for this year's Gaulitana: A Festival of Music. Puccini's master- piece, presented following an absence of over 20 years from the local stage, promises to be a spectacular night for opera buffs. Miriam Gauci – Malta's "Donna non Vidi Mai" – fea- tures in the title-role, follow- ing on her "triumphant and touching" Madama Butter- f ly in 2017. Des Grieux shall be interpreted by acclaimed Puccini singer Enrique Ferrer - renowned for his dramatic power, personality & musi- cality. Booking is open, directly on- line on www.teatruaurora. com or via ticket helpline 7904577 Music APRIL 12 Gianni Morandi Concert Gianni Morandi will be singing live at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Tà Qali on April 12. The show will feature more than 40 tracks from Morandi's repertoire forming a playlist that would retrace the funda- mental stages of his 60-year career. They include Occhi di ragazza, Scende la pioggia, La fisarmonica, Non son degno di te, Uno su mille, Dobbiamo fare luce, and Una vita che ti sogno. These last two tracks are part of Morandi's 40th album D'Amore e D'Autore, in which Morandi interprets songs of love.The show starts at 9.30pm. JULY 19 Il Volo Live On 19th July, Il Volo will be at the Malta Fairs and Con- ventions Center in Malta and 23th July at the Teatro Antico in Taormina. JULY 10 Pink Floyd's Nick Mason live in Concert Rock 'N Malta are proud to present Pink Floyd's founding member Nick Mason and his band Saucerful of Secrets live in concert on the 10th of July at St.George's Square, Val- letta. Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets featuring Nick Ma- son, Gary Kemp, Guy Pratt, Lee Harris and Dom Beken is a unique opportunity to experience Pink Floyd's cel- ebrated and significant early body of work played live in- cluding songs from albums 'The Piper At The Gates of Dawn' and 'A Saucerful Of Secrets'. Tickets are available from www.kultura.mt Exhibitions APRIL 26 – MAY 26 Julinu's Radioactive Ravioli Award-winning artist-il- lustrator Julian Mallia, also known as Julinu, will soon present his first solo paint- ing exhibition that promises to offer alternative visual interpretations of familiar notions and elements from pop culture.The exhibition, named Julinu's Radioactive Ravioli, features a collection of 17 realistically-executed oil paintings, which utilise the artist's signature graphic wit, atmospheric surrealism and meticulously-executed visual ideas to present a dif- ferent take on reality. Curated by Justine Balzan Demajo and Francois Zammit, Julinu's Radioactive Ravioli is sup- ported by a Malta Arts Fund Project Support Grant from Arts Council Malta and by Vee Gee Bee Art, San Gwann. It is targeted at anyone aged 16 and above and will be ex- hibited at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta from Friday 26 April until Sunday 26 May, with en- trance free of charge. Festivals MARCH 8 – APRIL 7 Gualitana Festival of Music "Gozo's main classical music festival" returns between 8 March and 7 April 2019. This year's edition promises to be an exciting programme of events focusing on the theme "Women in Society". Gauli- tana will include an eclectic mix of events with multifari- ous styles – orchestral, cham- ber, recitals, vocal, featuring international and local artists and ensembles. Held in vari- ous locations around Gozo (with some events in Malta), the festival incorporates multiple creative arts, from literature, to acting, cinema and live-painting, whilst pre- senting multiple genres (jazz, pop, musicals and folk music). It will also host an exhibition by 30 Chinese female artists and shall commemorate the bi-centenary since the birth of Clara Schumann. MARCH 27- 29 Campus Book Festival The National Book Coun- cil and Għaqda tal-Malti – Università are proud to pre- sent the sixth edition of the Campus Book Festival (FKK), which will be held on 27, 28 and 29 March, kicking off daily at 9 am with back-to- back activities planned until 4 pm. On Friday the activities will continue until late in the evening. The purpose of the festival is to promote litera- ture across the board while, at the same time, giving pub- lishers and book distributors a space in which they can sell and promote their publica- tions with a mature audience, such as university students. The Festival is open to all, free of charge. MARCH 30 Storytelling workshop for children On Saturday, 30th March, Heritage Malta is hosting the children's workshop 'Planting Story Seeds' at the National Museum of Natural History in Mdina. This workshop is a unique opportunity to meet the storytellers, hear the stories and pick up some storytelling techniques. The workshop is part of a long- term collaboration between five European countries for the project 'Here Where I Belong', funded by FEST and Creative Europe. This event is aimed at children between the ages of 5 and 12. Children must present their Heritage Malta Passport in order to attend. Attendance is free, however, booking is required. Only 20 children, each with one accompanying adult, can attend to this workshop. Therefore, participation will be on first-come-first- served basis. Time: 1.30pm – 3.30pm.
