Reduced admission to view Regatta from Fort St Angelo Today, Heritage Malta is inviting the public to a day of activities at Fort St Angelo in Birgu. Visitors may enjoy a reduced admission to visit the fort and the new exhibi- tion 'Behind Closed Doors', while gaining the opportu- nity to view the traditional Regatta from the most stra- tegic platform in the Grand Harbour. Special tours at the upper part of Fort St An- gelo will also be available. For this occasion, the upper part of Fort St Angelo which is managed by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, will also be open to the public. Tours start at 11am, noon and at 1pm. Tickets at €5 for adults, €3 for seniors and stu- dents, and €1.50 for children. Opening hours: 9am till 6pm (last admission at 5.30pm). Theatre Repubblika Immakulata March 29 – April 7 Dù Theatre is back with a co- production with Spazju Kreat- tiv! A General election, a wed- ding and the local feast. On the same day. Trikki Trakki – Youth Theatre Festival April 6 Following a successful first year, Trikki Trakki is back – bigger and better than before. After weeks of rehearsals, six of our leading theatre direc- tors will be leading six groups of local students as they per- form six adaptations of classic texts for their audiences. The students have been led by sea- soned professionals in all as- pects of theatre-making. This show is made for students by students and they can't wait to see you in their audience! The classic novel, a potent allegory about the loss of innocence and the decline of civilization, is brought to dramatic life in Nigel Williams' adaptation. A plane crashes on a deserted is- land. The only survivors are a group of young adults. By day, it's a tropical paradise of sun and sea; but each night, their dreams are inhabited by a terri- fying beast. Recommended age group: 8+ Manon Lescaut April 6 Manon Lescaut is the operatic production for this year's Gauli- tana: A Festival of Music. Puc- cini's masterpiece, presented following an absence of over 20 years from the local stage, promises to be a spectacular night for opera buffs. Miriam Gauci – Malta's "Donna non Vidi Mai" – features in the title- role, following on her "trium- phant and touching" Madama Butterfly in 2017. Des Grieux shall be interpreted by ac- claimed Puccini singer Enrique Ferrer - renowned for his dra- matic power, personality & mu- sicality. Book- ing is open, directly online on www.teatruaurora.com or via ticket helpline 7904577 Music Gianni Morandi Concert April 12 Gianni Morandi will be sing- ing live at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Tà Qali on April 12. The show will fea- ture more than 40 tracks from Morandi's repertoire forming a playlist that would retrace the fundamental stages of his 60-year career. They include Occhi di ragazza, Scende la piog- gia, La fisarmonica, Non son de- gno di te, Uno su mille, Dobbia- mo fare luce, and Una vita che ti sogno. These last two tracks are part of Morandi's 40th album D'Amore e D'Autore, in which Morandi interprets songs of love. The show starts at 9.30pm. Il Volo Live July 19 On 19th July, Il Volo will be at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Malta and 23th July at the Teatro Antico in Taormina. Il nuovo album of Il Volo con- firms the worldwide success of the trio winning the TOP 10 on iTunes of the best-selling al- bums in 14 location, from Malta to Brazil, from Finland to Israel. With 11 tracks, the production of Michele Canova enhances the voices of Piero Barone, Ig- nazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, collecting their tastes and their musical influences in a CD that represents 10 years of a long friendship and music to- gether. Pink Floyd's Nick Mason live in Concert July 10 Rock 'N Malta are proud to present Pink Floyd's founding member Nick Mason and his band Saucerful of Secrets live in concert on the 10th of July at St George's Square, Valletta. Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets featuring Nick Mason, Gary Kemp, Guy Pratt, Lee Harris and Dom Beken is a unique op- portunity to experience Pink Floyd's celebrated and signifi- cant early body of work played live including songs from al- bums 'The Piper At The Gates of Dawn' and 'A Saucerful Of Secrets'. Tickets are available from www.kultura.mt Exhibitions Julinu's Radioactive Ravioli April 26 – May 26 Award-winning artist-il- lustrator Julian Mallia, also known as Julinu, will soon present his first solo painting exhibition that promises to offer alternative visual inter- pretations of familiar notions and elements from pop cul- ture. The exhibition, named Julinu's Radioactive Ravioli, features a collection of 17 re- alistically-executed oil paint- ings, which utilise the artist's signature graphic wit, atmos- pheric surrealism and metic- ulously-executed visual ideas to present a different take on reality. Curated by Justine Balzan Demajo and Francois Zammit, Julinu's Radioac- tive Ravioli is supported by a Malta Arts Fund Project Sup- port Grant from Arts Coun- cil Malta and by Vee Gee Bee Art, San Gwann. It is targeted at anyone aged 16 and above and will be exhibited at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta from Fri- day 26 April until Sunday 26 May, with entrance free of charge. Festivals Gualitana Festival of Music March 8 – April 7 "Gozo's main classical mu- sic festival" returns between 8 March and 7 April 2019. This year's edition promises to be an exciting programme of events focusing on the theme "Women in Society". Gauli- tana will include an eclectic mix of events with multifari- ous styles – orchestral, cham- ber, recitals, vocal, featuring international and local artists and ensembles. Held in vari- ous locations around Gozo (with some events in Malta), the festival incorporates mul- tiple creative arts, from lit- erature, to acting, cinema and live-painting, whilst present- ing multiple genres (jazz, pop, musicals and folk music).
