Music MAY 3 – JUNE 8 Bir Miftuh International Music Festival Once again with Spring comes the pleasure of the Bir Miftuħ International Music Festival, one of the highlights of the Maltese music calendar. This year held on 30 May – 2 June, it will feature 5 music areas and around 120 acts from around the World with an eclectic music fusion of World Music, Ska, Funk, Blues, Reggae, Alternative Rock, Dub, Hip-Hop, Psychedelic Trance, Techno, House, Electro, Drum 'n' Bass and more. JUNE 8 An evening with Bruce Dickinson NNG Promotions are proud to announce a special one- man speaking show by IRON MAIDEN singer, BRUCE DICKINSON in Malta on Sat- urday June 8 at the Sir Temi Zammit Hall, University Of Malta, Tal-Qroqq, Msida. Split into two parts, the first half of the show sees Bruce taking a humorous, often satirical look back at his colourful, roller- coaster life. The highlights for this year's programme are Kenny Gar- rett, one of the world's most renowned saxophone players, Jazzmeia Horn one of the most important jazz vocalists, who was nominated for a grammy last year, Ozmosys featur- ing legendary jazz drummer Omar Hakim, one of the most versatile eclectic Jazz drum- mers who has collaborated with Miles Davis, Dire Straits, Daft Punk and David Bowie and for the second time Chucho Valdés – the Cuban Jazz Legend, six- time Grammy Award Winner, who will all be performing on the Main Stage at Ta' Liesse in Valletta. JULY 10 Pink Floyd's Nick Mason live in Concert Rock 'N Malta are proud to present Pink Floyd's founding member Nick Mason and his band Saucerful of Secrets live in concert on the 10th of July at St.George's Square, Valletta. Nick Mason's Saucerful of Se- crets featuring Nick Mason, Gary Kemp, Guy Pratt, Lee Har- ris and Dom Beken is a unique opportunity to experience Pink Floyd's celebrated and signifi- cant early body of work played live including songs from al- bums 'The Piper At The Gates of Dawn' and 'A Saucerful Of Secrets'. Tickets are available from www.kultura.mt Exhibitions APRIL 26 – MAY 26 Julinu's Radioactive Ravioli Award-winning artist-il- lustrator Julian Mallia, also known as Julinu, will soon present his first solo painting exhibition that promises to of- fer alternative visual interpre- tations of familiar notions and elements from pop culture. The exhibition, named Julinu's Radioactive Ravioli, features a collection of 17 realistically- executed oil paintings, which utilise the artist's signature graphic wit, atmospheric sur- realism and meticulously-exe- cuted visual ideas to present a different take on reality. Curat- ed by Justine Balzan Demajo and Francois Zammit, Julinu's Radioactive Ravioli is sup- ported by a Malta Arts Fund Project Support Grant from Arts Council Malta and by Vee Gee Bee Art, San Gwann. It is targeted at anyone aged 16 and above and will be exhibited at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta from Friday 26 April until Sun- day 26 May, with entrance free of charge. Culture MAY 12 Ta' Mintna Catacombs to open at a reduced price On Sunday, 12th May, Her- itage Malta is opening the catacombs of Ta' Mintna in Mqabba at the reduced price of €2. This site is usually not open to the public and access to it is by appointment. Tours will take place every 30 min- utes, starting from 9.00am (last tour starts at noon). Event will end at 13.00hrs.
