Quatuor Arod got together in 2013 and consists of Jor- dan Victoria (violin), Alexan- dre Vu (violin), Tanguy Pari- sot (viola) and Samy Rachid (cello). The quartet has won several prestigious music prizes and sees itself perform on famous international stages among which the Au- ditorium of the Louvre, the Philharmonie de Paris, Lon- don's Wigmore Hall, Salz- burg's Mozarteum, Schloss Elmau in Germany, the Bozar (Brussels), the Konzerthaus in Vienna, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Tonhalle Zurich, the Calouste Gulben- kian Foundation in Lisboa and now at Teatru Manoel. The ensemble is renowned for its style, which is fresh, dynamic and virtuoso. Quatuor Arod will bring an exciting combination of well- known string quartets consist- ing of Joseph Haydn's String Quartet in B flat major Op.76 No.4 called 'Sunrise', Béla Bar- tók's String Quartet No. 5 and String Quartet No 2 in A mi- nor, by Johannes Brahms. Top young French ensemble visiting Malta ON Friday 24th May the Malta Concert Orchestra will be per- forming another concert in the Suċċessi Maltin series at Pjazza Teatru Rjal. This concert will be a trip down memory lane with some of Malta's most popular singers such as Mary Spiteri, Maryrose Mallia, The Greenfields and Tony Camilleri 'L-Għannej' who will be joining the Malta Concert Orchestra on stage. The concert will feature all- time favourite songs such as Fit-Tieġ tan-Neputija, Is- Saħħara ta' Wied Għafrid, Tfajj- el Ċkejken, L-Għannej, Tema minn Ġensna, Il-Banda ta' Indri and many others. The orchestra, formerly known as the PBS Orchestra, was set up in 2014. In 2017 it moved to Pjazza Teatru Rjal and was rebranded as the Malta Concert Orchestra with a mis- sion "to reach out to people across the board through acces- sible and inspiring musical per- formances." The MCO is a versatile en- semble made up of professional and semi-professional musi- cians who perform in forma- tions of various sizes depending on venue and occasion. This year's Suċċessi Maltin will be under the direction of Maestro Paul Abela, a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston and one of Malta's foremost composers of popu- lar songs and musicals, while the musical arrangements were done by Maestro Joe Brown.
