19 COMMERCIAL maltatoday | SUNDAY • 19 MAY 2019 MELITA has a record num- ber of subscribers which now stands at nearly 140,000 and has once again been confirmed as Malta's fastest growing mo- bile operator. Latest official statistics by the Malta Com- munications Authority show that more than 21 per cent of customers in Malta now use Melita Mobile. Harald Roesch, CEO at Melita Limited, said, "The subscriber growth results are very positive especially when considering Melita was the third operator in the Maltese market. We are grateful to our customers for their loyalty and support. Melita's success in at- tracting a growing number of mobile customers is the result of a focused effort to provide the best possible customer ex- perience and value for money. Among other initiatives, major investment went into a brand new - and Malta's only - 5G ready mobile network, as well as a significant increase in mo- bile roaming agreements that are giving customers access to faster and cheaper roaming experience." The launch of mobile plans with unlimited data starting from as little as €35 per month pushed Melita's subscriber growth by 16 per cent in 2018. A similar growth trend con- tinues in the first part of 2019, putting Melita's subscriber base close to 140,000. Apart from growth in the residential market, Melita has also grown significantly in the business segment with more and more business opting for corporate plans by Melita that give bet- ter value and transparency supported by a reliable net- work and dedicated customer support. The two-day programme was designed exclusively for BOV women leaders of today and tomorrow. Its aim was to further en- hance women's skills and con- fidence to allow them to fully express their voice, authentic power and also leadership ability. "At Bank of Valletta we simply believe in the power of women. Over half of our workforce is made of wom- en. We believe that through such training programmes, which are aimed specifically at women, we can assist them in reaching their full poten- tial, strengthening their natu- ral traits and cultivate their own authentic style of leader- ship," said Dr Tania Camilleri from BOV's Employee De- velopment Unit. "We do not want our women to emulate men leaders, we want them to remain true to their com- petences because it is only through diversity of skills that our company can continue to grow and flourish. It is what makes us different." "Bank of Valletta takes pride in its recruitment and career advancement policy that has always been open equally to both genders based on talent and skills. ''We are proud to be one of the organisations where there the gender pay gap is non- existant", stressed Anthony Scicluna, BOV CO Ethics & Employee Development. "Increasingly we are having more women occupying mid- dle management postions and we want them to reach the highest positions within the Bank because different ideas and perspectives help us in- novate and grow further our business while meeting the needs of our diverse clien- tele. Organisations with non- gender balanced management teams run the risk of becom- ing stagnant and non-relevant to the needs of today's soci- ety." The interactive workshops, which were delivered by key trainer Jozie Devoy in part- nership with Tania Camilleri, provided opportunities for networking and collabora- tion between women coming from different areas across the Bank. The workshops also gener- ated a number of innovative ideas which the Bank will now seek to implement.
