06.06.19 2 NEWS APS Bank has launched its OM- NI-Channel solution 'myAPS', ena- bling customers to carry out trans- actions seamlessly over different channels and across internet and mobile banking. All new customers are now im- mediately on-boarded to the new system while existing customers are being migrated to "myAPS" in stages, the process having started on 3 June. 'myAPS' replaces the previous in- ternet banking system 'APS365 on- line'. Customers will be receiving noti- fication about the changeover a few days prior to the actual migration via a letter and instructions booklet. A help website has also been made available, accessible directly at myapshelp.apsbank.com.mt, includ- ing activation instructions, FAQs and how-to videos. The new mobile app 'myAPS' will allow users to manage their personal and business accounts, swipe eas- ily to see account balances, trans- fer money between accounts, make transfers and payments, create pay- ment templates and standing orders and carry out mobile payments. Daniel Cassar, Project Manager for the OMNI-Channel solution and Software Solutions Manager at APS Bank, said that having all the depart- ments working as one team to deliv- er this solution to the bank's cus- tomers was a fulfilling experience. "We shall be improving both web and mobile applications further to include new functionalities, making the banking experience simpler and more personal," he said. APS Bank launches new Omni-Channel Solution 'myAPS' MALTA Freeport Terminals is in- troducing a new service between the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the US, further enhancing the stra- tegically-located port's connectivity with the western and southern con- tinents. e new service, operated by CMA- CGM and Marfret, will provide Mal- tese importers and exporters con- nections to five additional ports: Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe), Fort-de- France (Martinique), Houston (US), Veracruz (Mexico) and Puerto Moin (Costa Rica). is service will comple- ment Malta Freeport's present exten- sive network to South America cover- ing five countries including Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay. Freeport CEO Alex Montebello said: "We are delighted to add this new service to our portfolio, which is a reflection of the confidence of trans- shipment industry in our port which is ideally positioned in the heart of the Mediterranean. "We are also pleased to note that they will be making use of our up- graded reefer facilities in which we have invested considerably over the past year." e Freeport currently offers 1,582 reefer points at both its terminals and will be installing a further 180 reefer plugs across three new platforms en- abling the Freeport to handle more perishable cargo. In addition to this investment, Mal- ta Freeport has undertaken a €31 million outlay in 2018, which has seen the Freeport invest in 15 Kone Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGs) as well as in other yard equipment in- cluding 67 new tractors and trailers. e Freeport currently provides network links to 115 ports around the world, 59 of which are in the Medi- terranean. Malta Freeport introduces new service to Caribbean and US MALTA-BASED business representatives met senior officials from prominent Jap- anese companies who have a base in Italy, during a Business Forum organised by the Malta Chamber of Commerce Enterprise and Industry in cooperation with the Em- bassy of Japan in Italy and the Japan Cham- ber of Commerce and Industry in Italy. Malta Chamber President, Perit David Xuereb welcomed the delegation led by Keiichi Katakami, Ambassador of Japan to Malta. He highlighted the Chamber's role as an influential interlocutor for fostering existing and new business relations be- tween Malta and Japan. Xuereb also remarked on the fact that both Japan and Malta are part of Enterprise Europe Network, which facilitates the in- ternationalisation and partnering opportu- nities of Maltese and Japanese companies. Katakami welcomed the significant im- provement in commercial and economic ties since the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzō Abe and announced the imminent opening of the Maltese Embassy in Japan by the end of the year. Japan is the third largest economy in the world and a well-established market for high quality products. Earlier this year, an EU-Japan Economic Partnership agree- ment was signed removing a wide array of tariffs and simplified customs procedures to export.
