11 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 9 JUNE 2019 LISTINGS TV & FILM SUNDAY Future Weapons – 5 Back-to-Back Episodes [Documentary] 2.25pm on Discovery Science (Channel 402) This docu-series features former Navy SEAL Richard "Mack" Machowicz, who reviews and demonstrates the latest technological advances in modern weaponry and military technology. The show features some genuinely mind-boggling future weaponry, not all of it made by or for US military forces. While most of the featured weapons involve guns and other types of firepower, not all do. The series also looks at breakthrough technologies that are designed to take on the challenges of terrorism and bomb threats. MONDAY Blade [Movie] 11.26pm on Italia 1 (Channel 155) A half-mortal, half-immortal is out to avenge his mother's death and rid the world of vampires. The modern-day technologically advanced vampires he is going after are in search of his special blood type needed to summon an evil god who plays a key role in their plan to execute the human race. TUESDAY The 80's: The Decade That Made Us [Documentary] 5pm on National Geographic (Channel 406) The Revolutionaries - Charting the events that shaped the world we live in today, from the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan to Steve Jobs and Levi's jeans. WEDNESDAY "Almost Famous" [Movie] 8.45pm on Melita More (Channel 315) Set in 1973, this movie chronicles the funny and often poignant coming of age of 15-year-old William (Michael Angarano), an unabashed music fan who is inspired by the seminal bands of the time. When his love of music lands him an assignment from Rolling Stone magazine to interview the up-and-coming band Stillwater – fronted by lead guitar Russell Hammond and lead singer Jeff Bebe, William embarks on an eye-opening journey with the band's tour, despite the objections of his protective mother. THURSDAY Mafia Only Kills In Summer S2 Ep.2: "Pezzo di Fango e Cornuto" [Drama Series] 8.45pm on Melita More (Channel 315) As the situation becomes more and more complicated with each passing day for Lorenzo and his family, a dangerous wind of death starts blowing over Palermo. The Mafia raises the stakes and sentences to death all the members of the institutions who have tried to hinder their plans. FRIDAY Hawks (1988) [Film] Friday 14 June at 9.45pm on AMC Channel (Channel 312) In this life-affirming, black comedy, two men - the devilishly handsome British lawyer Bancroft (Timothy Dalton), and rugged American football player Decker – have absolutely nothing in common... except the struggle for survival. Both terminally ill with cancer but still equally red blooded, the duo form a warm friendship and are determined to live life to the fullest, ripping off an ambulance and heading for the brothels of Amsterdam for one final fling. SATURDAY MOM S6 Ep.2: "Go-Go Boots and a Butt Cushion" [Comedy Series] 9.45pm on Melita More (Channel 315) With very little time in her life to get her studies done, Christy considers quitting Gambler's Anonymous, thinking she doesn't need it because she's only had three incidents in her life. Bonnie disagrees with her daughter, and turns out to be correct when Christy gets a good-sized check for incidentals as part of her student loan and finds herself in a casino parking lot. When a Russian politician is murdered, Eve is tasked with protecting the only witness and soon finds herself on a collision course with an assassin, Villanelle. When They See Us – Netflix In April 1989, five teenagers were arrested for the rape and near-fatal assault of a wealthy, young white woman in New York 's Central Park. The victim, Trisha Meili, has no memor y of that night. Although there was no physical evidence linking the boys to the brutal at tack, they were all convicted of the crime without evidence. Jailbirds – Netflix Jailbirds on Net flix documents life inside the Sacramento Count y Jail. The jail is home to 2,400 male and female inmates, with 10 percent of the prison population being women. The series investigates the realities of prison life, including how the inmates break the rules, smuggle contraband and enter relationships - both heterosexual and homosexual - despite the regulations of the jail.
