27.06.19 TRENDSETTERS LIAM CARTER MALTA'S boys in blue can now be con- tacted for assistance using the ever-pop- ular Facebook Instant Messenger. Up to now, messages received by the Malta Police Force Facebook page were being handled in their entirety by of- fi cers from the Public Relations depart- ment. Now messages sent to e Malta Po- lice Force Facebook page will be han- dled by the very same offi cers in charge of handling the traditional emergen- cy calls on the offi cial telephone lines, thus guaranteeing that offi cers who are trained to handle emergency situations are also assisting persons who seek help on Messenger. Similar to the conventional meth- ods, the Messenger service is available around the clock and it will now pro- vide the means to report an emergency in an anonymous manner. Similarly, other crimes and misdoings can also be reported using images and videos. Despite the change, the Police Force is still urging citizens to use the stipulated phone lines to report an emergency. e Malta Police can be contacted by calling 112. Police now available on Facebook's Messenger Contacts through Messenger will be handled by officers who also answer traditional emergency calls
