10 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 14 JULY 2019 LISTINGS WHAT'S ON Theatre JULY 19 This Land Is Your Land This Land Is Your Land brings together two artists, who share similar concerns, on how land has been com- modified or occupied by vari- ous interests. Those disputed fields, which the artists work in, are orchestrated by history, rights, politics and economy, but also memory, rituals and traditions, that play a central role in the appropriation of land. Almagul Menlibayeva, born in Kazakhstan and based in Berlin, revolves around ecology and feminism by cre- ating appealing imagery in or- der to look into the Post-Soviet life in rural Kazakhstan. JULY 20-21 Serata b'4 Four extracts from the works of four Maltese authors will be presented by third-year stu- dents at the University of Mal- ta with direction by Dominic Said and Anthony Ellul. JULY 18 Liam Gallagher Live in Malta If you had to make an equa- tion of all the elements that made the early Oasis singles so apocalyptically good - i.e. huge waves of guitar hooks + melo- dy you can't shake for…ever + thunderous rhythm + LIAM GALLAGHER'S VOICE deliv- ering an unbelievably catchy chorus - then Wall Of Glass fits in the lineage perfectly. It's hard to recall a time he's sung better - it's like hearing him for the first time again, the same yearning menace that claimed a million hearts by the end of Supersonic's first chorus. His voice is definitely on point. Date: Thursday 18th July. Ven- ue: Il-Fosos. Doors Open: 7pm. JULY 26 Forceful Feelings For this year's production, Pjazza Teatru Rjal is very proud to be hosting Forceful Feelings: The Show. Forceful Feelings was founded in 2006 by a group of male ballet danc- ers from such prestigious bal- let companies as The Royal Swedish Ballet, Bavarian State Ballet, Zurich Ballet and State Ballet Berlin. Having per- formed in Armenia, Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland, the group is a versatile com- pany whose repertoire varies from classical ballet to works by important modern chore- ographers such as Mats Ek, Nacho Duato, Heinz Spoerli, Jiri Bubenicek, Johan Inger, Dustin Klein and Arsen Meh- rabyan. JULY 19 Il Volo Live On 19th July, Il Volo will be at the Malta Fairs and Con- ventions Centre in Malta and on the 23rd July at the Teatro Antico in Taormina. Il nuovo album of Il Volo confirms the worldwide success of the trio winning the TOP 10 on iTunes of the best-selling albums in 14 locations, from Malta to Brazil, from Finland to Israel. With 11 tracks and the pro- duction of Michele Canova, it enhances the voices of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, collecting their tastes and their musical inf luences in a CD that repre- sents 10 years of a long friend- ship and music together.
