Those disputed fields, which the artists work in, are orchestrated by history, rights, politics and economy, but also memory, rituals and traditions, that play a central role in the appropriation of land. Almagul Menlibayeva, born in Kazakhstan and based in Berlin, revolves around ecology and feminism by cre- ating appealing imagery in or- der to look into the Post-Soviet life in rural Kazakhstan. JULY 26-AUGUST 14 The Spaces That Connect Us The exhibition will take the form of a photographic expo- sition and accompanying es- say, showcasing the intricacies of life in Green Bank in 2018. It will shed light on a dichoto- mous community – a hybrid way-of-life which seeks to ne- gotiate between a historic vo- cation to explore space, and a contemporary human need to be connected. JULY 19 Il Volo Live On 19th July, Il Volo will be at the Malta Fairs and Con- ventions Center in Malta and 23th July at the Teatro Antico in Taormina. Il nuovo album of Il Volo confirms the world- wide success of the trio win- ning the TOP 10 on iTunes of the best-selling albums in 14 location, from Malta to Brazil, from Finland to Israel. With 11 tracks and the production of Michele Canova, enhances the voices of Piero Barone, Ig- nazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, collecting their tastes and their musical inf luences in a CD that represents 10 years of a long friendship and music together. JULY 26 Forceful Feelings For this year's production, Pjazza Teatru Rjal is very proud to be hosting Forceful Feelings: The Show. Forceful Feelings was founded in 2006 by a group of male ballet danc- ers from such prestigious bal- let companies as The Royal Swedish Ballet, Bavarian State Ballet, Zurich Ballet and State Ballet Berlin. Having per- formed in Armenia, Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland, the group is a versatile com- pany whose repertoire varies from classical ballet to works by important modern chore- ographers such as Mats Ek, Nacho Duato, Heinz Spoerli, Jiri Bubenicek, Johan Inger, Dustin Klein and Arsen Meh- rabyan. Festivals JULY 15 – 20 Malta Jazz Festival The 29th annual Malta Jazz Festival will be held from Ju- ly 15 to July 20 this summer. The highlights for this year's programme are Kenny Gar- rett, one of the world's most renowned saxophone players, Jazzmeia Horn one of the most important jazz vocalists, who was nominated for a grammy last year, Ozmosys featuring legendary jazz drummer Omar Hakim, one of the most versa- tile eclectic Jazz drummers who has collaborated with Miles Davis, Dire Straits, Daft Punk and David Bowie and for the second time Chucho Val- dés – the Cuban Jazz Legend, sixtime Grammy Award Win- ner, who will all be performing on the Main Stage at Ta' Liesse in Valletta. For more informa- tion, visit www.festivals.mt/ jazzfestival JULY 17-21 Malta International Food Festival The Malta International Food is a celebration of local and international culinary tra- ditions, dining culture, inno- vation and artistry, the annual Malta International Food Fes- tival beckons die-hard gour- mands to savour international cuisines in every bite. Malta's old capital city Mdina will be hosting the 5th edition of the Malta International Food Fes- tival between Wednesday 17th and Sunday 21st July 2019; 5 days of gastronomic alfresco eating and drinking, culture & history, as well as entertain- ment for everyone. JULY 25-28 Kinemastik International Short Film Festival The Kinemastik Internation- al Short Film Festival will take place from the 25 to 28 July and at the Garden of Rest, a deconsecrated cemetery over- looking the Marsamxett Har- bour. Kinemastik collaborates with international filmmakers and festivals to bring inde- pendent film to a local audi- ence. The festival is now in its 15th year. Kinemastik links local filmmakers to the world of cinema, providing them with a platform for their work, through local screenings as well as through worldwide dis- tribution of locally produced works. Kinemastik is sup- ported by Arts Council Malta through a Cultural Partner- ship Agreement. JULY 19-20 Kinetic Rocks Emerging from "Rock and Roll", Kinetic Dance Academy brings you their 5th Year An- niversary Dance Show - Kinetic Rocks. Through sounds of elec- tric guitars, bass and drums influenced from jazz and clas- sical tunes addressing themes of love, social, cultural and po- litical matters. This is the show for everyone as the most domi- nant music of all time will be translated through dance into an artistic expression featuring various dance genres including Modern Jazz, Classical Ballet, Hip Hop and Contemporary. Kinetic Rocks will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on the night of Saturday 20th July 2019 Music JULY 18 Liam Gallagher Live in Malta If you had to make an equa- tion of all the elements that made the early Oasis singles so apocalyptically good - i.e. huge waves of guitar hooks + melo- dy you can't shake for…ever + thunderous rhythm + LIAM GALLAGHER'S VOICE deliv- ering an unbelievably catchy chorus - then Wall Of Glass fits in the lineage perfectly. It's hard to recall a time he's sung better - it's like hearing him for the first time again, the same yearning menace that claimed a million hearts by the end of Supersonic's first chorus.
