08.08.19 TRENDSETTERS Liam Carter THIS week, in a series of planned changes, five ma- jor public transport routes will be boosted to increase bus frequency. e changes to bus trip frequencies were possible due to the introduction of 40 brand new 12-me- tre long buses, which were announced last week, a spokesperson for Malta Public Transport said. Following the schedule changes, the X4 route will start operating at 15 min- ute intervals during peak hours. is route travels be- tween Valletta and Birżeb- buġa, passing through Ħamrun (Blata l-Bajda), Marsa, Ħal Luqa, the air- port and Ħal Far. Residents of Rabat, At- tard, Birkirkara and Msida, who use route 50 to travel Valletta and Rabat, will also have a more frequent service during peak hours, with the route starting to operatie twice every hour between 4pm and 6pm. ese changes will be in effect during the week, from Monday and Friday. Identical changes will be applied to Route 48, which operates between Buġib- ba and Valletta, including through St Paul's Bay, Mo- sta, Birkirkara and Msida. Moreover, Route 63, be- tween Qormi and Valletta will start operating every 20 minutes during peak hours, from Monday to Friday. Gozo was also included in this frequency boost- ing exercise, with route 301, which takes traveler to various destinations between Mġarr and Vic- toria, to start operating more frequently during the week to make up for the increased summer de- mand.
