Organised in collaboration with the Clews family members and the American University of Malta, the event will feature snippets from a performance set to premiere at Spazju Kre- attiv in Valletta later on in September. The event, hosted by Toni Sant, will feature per- formers Joe Farrugia 'id-Dulli', Mario Spiteri 'is-Snits', and Le- ontine. Clews remains a household name among Maltese people over the age of 50 as both a comic performer and a prolific writer, but it is not quite com- mon knowledge that he also produced crossword puzzles for Maltese-language newspa- pers on a regular basis for many decades throughout his life. The variety show presented at Spazju Kreattiv between the 27th and 29th September, enti- tled 'Il-Klus ta' Clews', revolves around a giant crossword puz- zle board – produced spe- cifically to serve as a backdrop – while four contemporary popular entertainers perform comedy sketches and songs he wrote throughout his long ca- reer. With 2019 being the tenth year since his death, all these activities to celebrate the mem- ory, life and work of a most- acclaimed entertainer, Charles Clews, seem even more fitting to his legacy. The exhibition will remain open until Sunday 1st Septem- ber 2019. Admission to the launch and exhibition are free of charge.
