maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 28 AUGUST 2019 12 CULTURE ART THE Strada Stretta Concept, now op- erating under the recently-established Valletta Cultural Agency, will be host- ing its first event for 2019 on Thursday 5th September. Strada Stretta Jam X4 will be an evening of live music in the city's en- ergetic street, with a full programme of music by leading local and interna- tional Jazz musicians. The event starts at 20:00hrs, at the junction between South Street and Melita Street. En- trance is free. Three bands and a duo will fill the area between South Street and Melita Street with tunes from the past and some contemporary compositions, as well as improvised pieces. The bands are formed of some of Malta's best jazz musicians. Joe Camilleri (il-Bibi) will be accom- panied by Martin Jenkins, Anthony Saliba and Roger Azzopardi. Joe Cutajar, Charles Gatt (is-City), Sammy Murgo, Paul Abela and Ryan Paul Abela will also be playing as an ensemble. Another ensemble will be comprised of Dominic Galea, Alan Portelli, Manuel Pulis and Eglé Pra- naityté. Singer-songwriter Cristina Vilallon- ga and bandoneonist Victor Villena will perform as a duo, playing original music influenced by Latin American, Jazz and Tango sounds. Under the artistic direction of Gi- useppe Schembri Bonaci, the Strada Stretta Concept explores the history of Strait Street through music, thea- tre, opera, literature, and other forms of entertainment. Leading Jazz musicians come together for music marathon in Strait Street HUNDREDS of vistors at- tended the annual Nadur Wine Festival over the weekend, with many Maltese also turning up over the three-day extravagan- za. This was the 17th consecutive wine festival organised by the Nadur council, with the sup- port of Emanuel Delicate Win- emaker Ltd. Tens of stands offered a huge variety of wine, as well as local and international cuisine. Enterntainment included per- formances by D Capitals Big Band, Upper Lipm and Rebec- ca & The Passengers.
