Certified Male was penned by award-win- ning Australian writers and performers Scott Rankin and Glynn Nicholas. For its Mal- ta debut, Certified Male will be co-directed by Nicholas himself alongside local thea- tre veteran Nanette Brim- mer, and will star renowned performers Alan Montanaro, Alan Paris, Joseph Zammit and Stephen Oliver. Certi- fied Male is being performed at the Teatru Salesjan, Sliema on 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13 October 2019. 18-20 OCTOBER We Will Rock You FM Theatre Productions re- turns following the sell-out successes of My Fair Lady and Mamma Mia! with another smash-hit musical, We Will Rock You. Based on songs by the legendary British rock band Queen, We Will Rock You is one of the most popular and longest-running musicals on London's West End and has also been produced in six continents. The band's time- less classic songs such as Ra- dio Gaga, Somebody To Love, Bohemian Rhapsody and of course. We Will Rock You, will be performed by a stellar cast of local and international artists, including West End leads Katie Paine and Jordan Carr. We Will Rock You will be on at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, on 18 Oc- tober at 8pm, on 19 October at 2.30pm and 8pm, and on 20 October at 2.30pm and 8pm. Un- finished Symphony, although consisting of only two move- ments, boasts extraordinary musical prowess. Its fearless- ness may stem from the com- poser's experience of a world of darkness and pain. The work is complemented by Beethoven's Overture depicting von Collin's story, and Mozart's popular yet virtuosic Piano Concerto to- gether with Schoenberg's early masterpiece in a late-Romantic style. For more information go to www.teatrumanoel.com.mt. 5 OCTOBER Vegard Flatøy Band + Five Years From Now Norwegian punk rockers Ve- gard Flatøy Band are coming to Malta October 5th, bring- ing obscure merchandise and songs about mountain life, in what they describe as a punk rock variety show. Having played at festivals and clubs in their native country and re- leased an album on what they believed to be the format of the future – cassette, they have now turned their direction to the Pieta Bocci Club. Following the success of her first recital last April, Julia Miller will be playing Maurice Ravel's Sonatine, and selected works from Polish composers Witold Lutoslawski, Frederick Chopin and Karol Szymanow- ski. It is the time when the sky is full of migrating birds on their way in search of their wintering spot. EuroBirdwatch is the largest annual event of the BirdLife Partnership held at this time of year to celebrate migratory birds. BirdLife European partners for EuroBirdwatch19 with bird-watching and bird-ringing sessions at our Għadira Nature Reserve on the first day (Saturday) in the morning (with booking), and another guided birdwatching session on the second day (Sunday) in the afternoon at Buskett woodland (no need for booking), which is the best spot in Malta to experience the autumn bird migration!
