2 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 2 OCTOBER 2019 DELTA Summit is a plat- form showcasing the future. It brings together several ex- perts and entrepreneurs in the fields of blockchain and cryp- tocurrency technology, as well as cognitive technologies like Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things. It also pro- vides a platform for the snow- balling esports market. Companies big and small display their product and merchandise to interested clients, industry hopefuls looking for fresh ideas and potential investors. With the convenience of the future being under one roof, discussions and panels can engage in fruitful debate and exchange of ideas. It also serves to promote Malta as a pioneering destination for disruptive technology. In 2018, Malta led the charge in regulating the blockchain industry and is now well on its way to regu- lating new technology niches falling under the digital inno- vation sector. This presented an opportunity for organising the first official blockchain conference in Malta in 2018. This year, the DELTA brand will be expanding its remit to Artificial Intelligence, esports and the Internet of Things besides blockchain and cryp- tocurrency. With the launch of the pub- lic consultation on an AI strategy, Malta is positioning itself as a hub for emerging technology companies seek- ing to establish themselves and to develop and innovate. The DELTA Summit is a perfectly conducive environ- ment for this to happen. The 2019 DELTA Summit, the second edition since its beginning, will take place at the MFCC in Ta' Qali over three days and will feature speakers from various stake- holders: from the Prime Min- ister of Malta, Joseph Muscat, to other policymakers and business developers. This year will see several panels discuss technical con- cepts on tokens—virtual cur- rency—especially in the con- text of the gaming market, the re-imagining of the tour- ism industry with technology and the future of gaming. The semi-controversial 5G will also be the subject of a keynote speech as will the applications of AI in the tel- ecommunications industry. The question of what the next industrial revolution is and what it's likely to bring about will also be addressed. Blockchain, AI, IoT, esports ... This is Delta Summit 2019 At the heart of DELTA Summit is Dr Abdalla Kablan
