2 DELTA Summit is a platform showcasing the future. It brings together several experts and entre- preneurs in the fields of blockchain and cryptocurrency technology, as well as cognitive technologies like Artificial Intelligence and the In- ternet of Things. It also provides a platform for the snowballing es- ports market. Companies big and small display their product and merchandise to interested clients, industry hope- fuls looking for fresh ideas and po- tential investors. With the convenience of the fu- ture being under one roof, dis- cussions and panels can engage in fruitful debate and exchange of ideas. It also serves to promote Malta as a pioneering destination for disruptive technology. In 2018, Malta led the charge in regulating the blockchain industry and is now well on its way to regu- lating new technology niches falling under the digital innovation sector. This presented an opportunity for organising the first official block- chain conference in Malta in 2018. This year, the DELTA brand will be expanding its remit to Artificial Intelligence, esports and the Inter- net of Things besides blockchain and cryptocurrency. With the launch of the public consultation on an AI strategy, Malta is positioning itself as a hub for emerging technology compa- nies seeking to establish themselves and to develop and innovate. The DELTA Summit is a perfectly conducive environment for this to happen. The 2019 DELTA Summit, the second edition since its beginning, will take place at the MFCC in Ta' Qali over three days and will fea- ture speakers from various stake- holders: from the Prime Minister of Malta, Joseph Muscat, to other pol- icymakers and business developers. This year will see several panels discuss technical concepts on to- kens—virtual currency—especially in the context of the gaming mar- ket, the re-imagining of the tourism industry with technology and the future of gaming. The semi-controversial 5G will also be the subject of a keynote speech as will the applications of AI in the telecommunications in- dustry. The question of what the next in- dustrial revolution is and what it's likely to bring about will also be ad- dressed.
