TECHNOLOGY maltatoday | SUNDAY • 6 OCTOBER 2019 14 BIGGER and better, that is how we returned for this year's Malta's leading Digital Innovation Summit. MITA was present during the Delta Summit and we have worked hard and vigorously to make sure that we provide one of the best experiences to those who were attending this highly an- ticipated event. Last year we had a high vol- ume of people visiting our stand, who wanted to experi- ence, hands-on, the technol- ogies we had prepared. This year, in addition to last year's Augmented and Virtual Re- ality headsets, we have pre- pared some new and exciting things for those who visited- ed our stand. Our stand was composed of two storeys, involving a number of emerging tech- nologies and the specific sta- tions for human resources and cyber security. The set- up of emerging technologies involved virtual reality and augmented reality headsets, a station demonstrating the application of microcon- trollers combined with 3d printing and stations dedi- cated to using Artificial In- telligence such as emotion recognition. The emerging technologies that were available on our stand during Delta Summit, are managed by the MITA Emerging Technologies Lab. It is impossible for all the people attending the Sum- mit, to come to the Lab all at once. Instead, we brought the Lab to Delta. This was a great opportunity that could not be overlooked because it ena- bled great outreach to a vast audience. We continuously strive to raise awareness, amongst different audiences, to not only consume tech- nology, but more effectively, create it. By bringing the Lab to Delta, we showed the po- tential of emerging technolo- gies through the different ap- plications. The audiences for events of this nature and size are al- ways so vast, and to no one's surprise, students attend as well. A good number of students from an IT area of studies, visited our stand. We were also available for these students who are doing their dissertations or projects in- volving the different technol- ogies. If interested, they can contact and meet with us to discuss how we can help with their ideas for projects and dissertation in these areas. Emerging technologies at the Adelaide Grixti
