Revamp Malta is organising a concert at the National Library on 25th, 26th and 27th Octo- ber: Your Song - Celebrating the music of Elton John. The idea is to present fresh music arrangements of some of Elton John's greatest hits spanning his 50-year career. The line-up in- cludes some fantastic voices, ac- companied by a rhythm section and string orchestra. For more information go to https://www. facebook.com/revampmalta/ videos/719635251814708/ 22 OCTOBER Bach Cello Suites Considered to be among Bach's greatest achievements, the famous 'Bach Cello Suites' are to be played at a lunchtime concert by accomplished cellist Lucie Kucharova on Tuesday 22 October 2019 at St. Catherine of Italy, Valletta. The perfor- mance starts at 12:30pm. In- ternational cellist Lucie Kucha- rova will be performing one of the most profound Classical works. As usual in a Baroque musical suite, each suite starts with a prelude and all the other movements are based around baroque dance types. The Cel- lo suites are structured in six movements each: prelude, al- lemande, courante, sarabande, two minuets or two bourrées or two gavottes, and a final gigue. For more detail about upcom- ing events, one can visit www. barocco-malta.com/events. 14 NOVEMBER Operetta Highlights Bulgarian-born soprano An- driana Yordanova will grace the Refectory at Palazzo Fal- son to sing vivacious excerpts from some of the well-loved operettas that are entertain- ing, satirical and witty. She will be singing delightful arias from the famous operettas 'Giuditta' 'The Merry Widow' and 'Paganini' all written by the composer Franz Lehár and other wonderful songs by cele- brated composers such as Rich- ard Straus and Robert Stolz, amongst others. Andriana Yor- danova will be accompanied by cellist Lucie Kucharova and violinist Philipp Orlov. The re- cital will be held on Thursday 14th November at 6.30pm. En- trance to the concert is at a sug- gested donation of 10 euro and patrons are invited to visit the museum at a discounted price. The Festival celebrates the wonder of books through a wide programme of family-friendly activities – in- cluding book launches and pres- entations, poetry and literature readings, meetings with authors, dramatisations of literary texts, and conferences and seminars. The festival also offers extensive networking opportunities for professionals in the book world. This year round, one of the highlights of the Festival is the opening conference revolving around the literary genres of sci- fi and fantasy. The conference will be led by a number of local and overseas authors. Among them is Loranne Vella, the Brus- sels based author of Rokit (Mer- lin Publishers) and winner of the 2018 National Book Prize. The fesival will take place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre.
