14 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 20 OCTOBER 2019 LISTINGS WHAT'S ON Music 22 OCTOBER Bach Cello Suites Considered to be among Bach's greatest achievements, the famous 'Bach Cello Suites' are to be played at a lunchtime concert by accomplished cellist Lucie Kucharova on Tuesday 22 October 2019 at St Catherine of Italy, Valletta. The performance starts at 12.30pm. Interna- tional cellist Lucie Kucharova will be performing one of the most profound classical works. As usual in a baroque musical suite, each suite starts with a prelude and all the other move- ments are based around ba- roque dance types. The Cello suites are structured in six movements each: prelude, al- lemande, courante, sarabande, two minuets or two bourrées or two gavottes, and a final gigue. Entrance to the concert is at a suggested donation of 8 euro. One can obtain the tickets prior to the concert from the venue itself or by email: baroccomal- ta@gmail.com. For detail, one can visit www.barocco-malta. com/events. 9 NOVEMBER Disco Fever Tickets are now available online for the biggest boogie night of the year, Disco Fever, at the Gianpula Main Room on 9 November – and it's all in aid of charity. Get set to channel your 1970s disco vibe at Mal- ta's favourite party destination, in a one-night-only event that will feature the world-famous Bee Gees tribute band, the Sat- urday Night Bee Gees. Festivals 2-3 NOVEMBER Comic Con Malta The Malta Comic Con (MCC) is a two-day event which cel- ebrates comic creators, comic books, books, movies, TV se- ries, table top games, video games, role playing games, cos- playing and virtually anything that is related to the comic culture. The Festival celebrates the wonder of books through a wide programme of family-friendly activities – in- cluding book launches and pres- entations, poetry and literature readings, meetings with authors, dramatisations of literary texts, and conferences and seminars. The festival also offers extensive networking opportunities for professionals in the book world. This year round, one of the highlights of the Festival is the opening conference revolving around the literary genres of sci- fi and fantasy. The conference will be led by a number of local and overseas authors. Among them is Loranne Vella, the Brus- sels based author of Rokit (Mer- lin Publishers) and winner of the 2018 National Book Prize. The fesival will take place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre. Based on songs by the legendary British rock band Queen, We Will Rock You is one of the most popular and longest-running musicals on London's West End and has also been produced in six continents. The band's time- less classic songs such as Ra- dio Gaga, Somebody To Love, Bohemian Rhapsody and of course, We Will Rock You, will be performed by a stellar cast of local and international artists, including West End leads Katie Paine and Jordan Carr.
