M4 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 20 OCTOBER 2019 MOTORING MALTA Classic's 12th edition held over the last weekend brought some of the world's most sought after cars to the is- land and an incredible line-up of proud Malta Classic winners. This years' events hosted over 100 classic cars from Malta and overseas across the four days. The Mtaħleb Hill Climb on Thursday sponsored by Handson Systems resulted with Joshua Anastasi as the 1st winner with an Aus- tin Mini, who made it to the top of the Mtaħleb hill at 74.924 seconds. Friday's Mdina Concours d'Elegance sponsored by Mdina Glass displayed almost 50 classic cars in immaculate condition, resulting in Chris Cachia's 1961 Jaguar E-Type as the overall winner. The Mdina Grand Prix weekend and the centerpiece of the Malta Classic events saw powerful engines twisting, turning and sprinting around the tight Mdina circuit in eight electrifying races to the finish line. The overall winners for the Mdina Grand Prix 2019 on cor- rected timing are: 1st Place: Nigel Webb with a Jaguar XK120 2nd Place: Ian Lawson with a Riley 12/4 Special 3rd Place: Vincent Tourneur with a Delahaye 135s Competition The organising committee has an- nounced that Malta Classic will launch its 13th edition of this prestigious na- tional event in October 2020. Karen Zammit Southernwood, Secre- tary for Malta Classic declared the Mal- ta Classic 2019 another great success and thanked the committee and foun- dation members, volunteers, marshals and sponsors and all who participated. "We look forward to another safe and adrenaline-fueled event next year in 2020," she said. Malta Classic 2019 was supported by over 40 sponsors and support bodies, including Enemed, Salini Resort, Mdi- na Glass, The Malta Tourism Author- ity, ARMS, Grimaldi Group, Transport Malta, SportMalta, Express Trailers, The Ministry of Transport, Infrastruc- ture and Capital Projects, Handson, Farsons, Camilleri Caterers, Access, lo- cal councils of Mdina, Rabat and Mtar- fa, Vascas, Busy Bee and many more.
