24.10.19 TRENDSETTERS THE Mediterranean Sea is un- doubtedly one of the biggest fac- tors which draw people to Malta, with both tourists and locals en- joying spending time at sea. Boat trips and water activities around the island are very popu- lar, but it can be difficult to choose which trip or activity offers the best value and experience. One online service - GetMyBoat - however, brings together hundreds of boat renting and trip services, making it much easier to choose which one to opt for. GetMyBoat, which bills itself as the "Airbnb of boats", is a platform where boat businesses can easy reach customers. Launched in San Francisco in 2013, it is the world's largest marketplace for boat rentals and water activities in the world, with 130,000 listings in 184… and it's also available in Malta. The service can be accessed on- line through getmyboat.com or through the GetMyBoat apps for iOS and Android, and currently contains over 300 boat rental and water experience listings for Malta. The listings range from renting of small boats at low prices or rent- ing of larger yachts, to water ski- ing trips, windsurfing tours, jet ski renting, luzzu chartering, scuba diving courses, snorkeling, kayak- ing, and more. All listings include the price per person, per hour or per day, de- pending on the type of service, and each boat specifies how many per- sons can be hosted on it as well as other information such as the safety gear and facilities available. The location of the ser- vice is shown on a map, and bookings can be made directly through the GetMyBoat platform. Services can be organ- ised by trip types, price and group size. Apart from serving cus- tomers, the platform also makes it easy for busi- nesses to add their list- ings. The platform's mission, in fact, is to open up the boating world for both rent- ers and owners. Adding a listing is as simple as signing up and supplying the required information. With an easy-to-use inter- face, the platform promises to provide a hassle-free ex- perience, and looks set to transform the way boat trips and water experiences are booked in Malta, while at the same time making such ser- vices more accessible to peo- ple who might otherwise not have thought of engaging in a sea-related activity. 'Airbnb of boats' makes booking boat rentals and water experiences easy
