31.10.19 2 NEWS THE latest developments in Fintech innovation were debated in a two-day summit held in Amsterdam. e event was sponsored by Finance- Malta and featured a panel of Finance- Malta members sharing their views and Malta's strategy in this area. Entitled "Unleashing Innovation in Fintech", the summit brought together cross-industry Fintech and Blockchain sector leaders to discuss current and future developments that address the key trends and challenges in each realm with the focus being Fintech, in con- junction with Blockchain as a practical tool for financial optimisation. FinanceMalta played a prominent role in this summit as it hosted the first pan- el discussion of the two-day event, with the topic being "Putting DLT and Legal on the same page". e FinanceMalta panel speakers were Dr Ian Gauci, Managing Partner at Caleda, GTG Advocates & Afilexion Alliance; Dr Diane Bugeja, Senior As- sociate at Camilleri Preziosi Advocates; Nicholas Warren, Head of Regulatory at Francis J. Vassallo & Associates; and Jo- seph Woods, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Creolabs Ltd, who moderat- ed the panel. During the two days, FinanceMalta had an exhibition stand through which it could interact with the summit's par- ticipants and share more information about doing business in Malta. During this summit, various innova- tions within FinTech were explored, and ideas to transform the way in which dai- ly business is being conducted were dis- cussed. e challenges that various cor- porations and institutions are facing in their day-to-day financial transactions, as well as how these can be overcome were debated at length, with the use of various interesting case studies. FinanceMalta kicks off Amsterdam Fintech innovation summit Dr Ian Gauci, Joseph Woods, Dr Diane Bugeja and Nicholas Warren during the FinanceMalta panel discussion at the Amsterdam Fintech Innovation Summit held earlier this month PKF Malta employees marked Pink October by raising awareness on the risks and prevention of breast cancer in a fun and entertaining way. Besides having all employees dressed with a touch of pink, information on breast cancer and how to prevent and detect it was shared during an office activity held recently. In addition, PKF Malta employees enjoyed a specially-made cake which had various fun and catchy messages on breast cancer checks and prevention. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in Malta, and the estimates are that one in 10 women are expected to suffer from the disease during their lifetime. According to the local Breast Screening Programme within the Primary Heath Care Department, around 300 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Malta each year. The aim of breast screening is to find breast cancers early, when they are still too small to see or feel.
