7.11.19 TRENDSETTERS GOZO has long been known as a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life in Malta. Popular with both the Maltese and tourists, the Isle of Calypso is known both for its relatively un- spoiled natural beauty as for its historical and cultural attractions. A previous edition of Trendset- ting featured a mobile app, Visit- Malta+, which helps locals and vis- itors plan their leisure time on the Maltese islands, offering practical information on places to visit. Gozo, however, also has its own dedicated app: Visit Gozo. The app, available for iOS and Android, gathers together a num- ber of features, including listing and providing information on out- door activities in Gozo, attractions, events, places to eat and modes of travel. Visit Gozo also makes it easy to find a place to stay for a longer trip to Gozo, listing accommoda- tion such as farmhouses and hotels across the island, together with ge- ographical locations and contact details. For each of the features included in the app, directions to get to the place in question are also provided. If one chooses to explore cultural events on the island, for instance, the app would, apart from display- ing details of upcoming events and their date and location, also pro- vide Google Maps-style step by step street directions to get there. The app, which is developed by the government, is easy to use, free, and appears to be constantly up- dated, therefore serving as a useful tool for anyone paying a short or longer visit to the island and pro- viding a platform for promoting Gozo and what it has to offer. Trips to the Isle of Calypso go high tech with Visit Gozo app
