Fresh from spectacular concerts through- out 2018 (such as MCO Pop, Suċċessi Maltin, L-Għanja tal- Poplu | Festival tal-Kanzunetta Maltija and MCO Pink October Concert to mention but a few) the Malta Concert Orchestra – conducted by Maestro Joe Brown – will continue to im- press with its versatility this time with the best of Pop, Rock and Soul, featuring music by Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson, Joe Cocker, The Beatles, Tina Turner and more. The concerts start at 7:30pm. For more information visit www.pjazzateatrurjal.mt. 16-17 NOVEMBER Knock Knock In This Place, Every Child Is Destined To Be A Soldier. Knock Knock describes what it's like to be a parent in the shadow of armed conflict. The play follows the journey of Il- ana, a single mother whose job as an Israeli Officer of Casualty Notifications is to knock on the door of families whose sons or daughters have been lost in war. Her conflict between mother- hood and her duty as a citizen reaches a deafening climax when her only son chooses to serve on the front-line. Played entirely by Niv Petel, this im- mersive physical mono-drama cuts through the thick curtain of politics to tell a story about parenthood, friendship, love and sacrifice. The performance is to set take place over two nights; the 16 and 17 Novem- ber from 8pm at Teatru Salesjan in Sliema. Festivals 15-24 NOVEMBER ZiguZajg Festival The 9th edition of ŻiguŻajg Festival returns with a fantastic line-up of no less than twenty- one projects and nine creative forms! The selection has a nice balance of new Maltese works together with some of the best touring shows, including five commissions by foremost lo- cal artists, five co-productions with national public cultural organisations, and no less than eleven international projects from around the globe. The 2019 Festival programme ini- tiatives vary from a brand new promenade music theatre show which will also tour schools, to a daring contemporary circus act, award-winning films, an opera with loads of humour, a re-adaptation of an iconic lit- erature classic, and a number of outdoor happenings. Music TODAY Ensemble DeNOTE In their Teatru Manoel Con- cert, Ensemble DeNOTE will be performing Mozart's Piano Quartet in G minor, K.478, 'Kegelstatt' Trio (clarinet/ vi- ola/ piano) in E flat, K.498 and Grand Quintetto in B flat, K.361 (the 'Gran Partita' Serenade). Ensemble DeNOTE will be making use of an 1888 Broad- wood Piano that was gener- ously donated to Teatru Manoel by the late Dr. George Debono. The Broadwood Piano was re- cently restored thanks to the financial support provided by The Friends of the Manoel. The 1888 Broadwood piano is char- acterised by its strings, which are straight strung, showcasing the different registers of the in- strument with beautiful clarity. The concert is being held in memory of the late Dr. George Debono on the 13th of No- vember at 8pm on the Teatru Manoel Main Stage. Tickets may be booked from the Teatru Manoel website www.teatru- manoel.com.mt or by calling on 21246389 or by sending an email on bookings@teatruma- noel.com.mt 14 NOVEMBER Operetta Highlights Bulgarian-born soprano An- driana Yordanova will grace the Refectory at Palazzo Fal- son to sing vivacious excerpts from some of the well-loved operettas that are entertain- ing, satirical and witty. She will be singing delightful arias from the famous operettas 'Giuditta' 'The Merry Widow' and 'Paganini' all written by the composer Franz Lehár and other wonderful songs by cele- brated composers such as Rich- ard Straus and Robert Stolz, amongst others. Andriana Yor- danova will be accompanied by cellist Lucie Kucharova and vio- linist Philipp Orlov. The recital will be held on Thursday 14th November at 6.30pm. Entrance to the concert is at a suggested donation of 10 euro and patrons are invited to visit the museum at a discounted price. Other UNTIL 30 NOVEMBER The Human turned Divine On the occasion of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Mdina Cathedral Museum, the Cathedral Museum Commis- sion is presenting 'The Human turned Divine', an exhibition of important crucifixes spanning the 15th to the 21st centuries. The items on display, many of which are being exhibited for the first time, come from pri- vate, public and ecclesiastical collections. The exhibition, curated by art historian Ma- ria Cassar B.A. (Hons), M.A., will be accompanied by a pub- lication. The exhibition will be open during Museum hours from Mondays until the 30 No- vember 2019. UNTIL 19 NOVEMBER Bonsai exhibition at Genna ta' Gonna Floriana During the Floriana Local Council's annual event Genna ta' Gonna, BCG will be partici- pating with the opening of the Bonsai garden to the public on 13th October from 9 am un- til 6pm.
