maltatoday | SUNDAY • 24 NOVEMBER 2019 21 COMMERCIAL 19 A number of agents from RE/ MAX Malta travelled to Spain between October 16-18 to at- tend RE/MAX Europe's Reu- con19: the 11th European Convention, held in Palma, Mallorca. The conference took place at Pueblo Espanol, a popular tour- ist attraction and events space. A number of venues within the village were taken over for the conference, forming a mini 'RE/MAX Village' with a variety of events, workshops and talks run by notable speakers. The yearly EU convention brings together RE/MAX teams from all over Europe to network, share ideas, build re- lationships, and take their local operations to the next level. RE/MAX Malta CEO Kevin Buttigieg commented, "we at- tend the European conference every year because it's a fan- tastic learning and networking opportunity for our team. With international speakers and chances to connect with RE/ MAX agents across Europe, it's a rewarding experience for all involved." This year's edition of the con- ference was titled 'Bridge to the Future', and featured interna- tionally-renowned speakers like Adam Contos – CEO of RE/MAX LLC, Ashley C Ford – internationally-acclaimed writer and podcaster, Walter Schneider – co-founder of RE/ MAX Integra, and Malta's own Paul Vincenti – a trainer and business coach who has trained thousands of agents all over the world. RE/MAX Europe's CEO Mi- chael Polzer opened the confer- ence with his talk 'The Future has Arrived: The New Culture of Sales' in which he discussed RE/MAX's vision and place within the current and future real estate landscape in Europe. Paul Vincenti also held a talk on the first day of the confer- ence, titled 'Success in any Situ- ation: Overcoming all Objec- tions'. The conference closed with a networking brunch, giving attendees the opportunity to connect and reconvene after two days of events. Buttigieg said: "this conference gives our agents a glimpse into the wider world of RE/MAX, and also provides a great team- building opportunity for our local group. We wouldn't miss it." This was the focus of a seminar brought together various other stakeholders to discuss how to ad- dress consumer expectations. Speak- ers came from relevant organisations which included the European Com- mission, BEUC (the European Con- sumer Organisation), OFCOM (the UK's Telecoms Regulator), Cullen International, the University of Malta and local industry players. Parliamentary secretary Silvio Schem- bri positively noted that Malta is well on track to be amongst the first Mem- ber States to meet the goals set by the European Union's 2025 Gigabit Society targets also thanks to its investment- friendly policies and robust regula- tory frameworks that facilitate pri- vate sector participation in new digital sectors that rely on telecommunica- tions infrastructure and services. He said that telecommunication rules will be modernised to take into ac- count developments in technologies and markets and that deliver positive and tangible benefits to consumers. MCA's CEO Jesmond Bugeja, em- phasised that on-going investments in connectivity of both a fixed and wire- less nature have placed Malta as the best performing EU country in broad- band coverage and speed. The seminar also featured a panel dis- cussion between the CEOs of the three main telecoms companies: Nikhil Patil (GO plc), Harald Rosch (Melita Ltd) and Sonia Fernandez (Vodafone Malta Ltd) who answered questions about their expectations as consumers about the challenges faced by the telecoms industry to support and keep up with the demands and necessities of new and disruptive technologies. MISCO also took the floor to provide an overview of the results of a study it conducted on behalf of the MCA to gauge consumers' quality of experi- ence. This research was carried out among the general public with the objective of assessing the experienc- es, behaviour and opinions regarding electronic services.
