15 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 27 NOVEMBER 2019 LISTINGS WHAT'S ON Theatre 26 DECEMBER Comedy Knights 007: Licence to Laugh Every year, the Teatru Sales- jan in Sliema hosts what has become for many, a must-see Christmas tradition: The Com- edy Knights' annual Christmas show. It is a satirical sketch show that somehow manages to walk the line between silly and biting, while, at the same time, constantly being the funniest show on the island. This year's show is Comedy Knights 007: Licence to Laugh. The title of the show reflects the number of years the Comedy Knights have been producing this an- nual sketch show. It promises to be always original, always topi- cal, always on point and per- haps most importantly, always hilarious. The cast features some of Malta's strongest comedy per- formers, as well as characters that have managed to enter lo- cal popular culture. Audience favourites such as the Bormla Babes, The First Lady and the Sliema Girls, are certain to make an appearance, while a vast selection of other sketches inspired by Maltese society and way of life will complete the show. No extra shows are planned Music 29 NOVEMBER APS Teatru Unplugged 22 Back in 1998, the first ever edi- tion of Teatru Unplugged was born. Since then, as Maltese music evolved, the simple yet magical concept of the annual event stayed the same; five acts of diverse musical genres within one concert in a stunning thea- tre. This year marks the 22nd edition of Teatru Unplugged, which will be held in the iconic Teatru Manoel in Valletta on three different nights between Friday 29 November and Sun- day 1 December 2019. For more infor- moation visit https://www.face- book.com/teatru.unplugged/ 28 NOVEMBER Concert by the band of the Armed Forces of Malta The annual concert by the band of the Armed Forces of Malta in aid of Id-Dar tal-Provi- denza will this year take place at the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Paul in Mdina on Friday 6th December at 8.00pm. The con- cert will be under the distin- guished patronage of the Presi- dent of Malta, H.E. Dr George Vella who will also present the Mons. Mikiel Azzopardi Award 2019 to the winner who will be announced during the evening. The band is under the direc- tion of Twanny Borg with the participation of soprano Celine Abela and tenor Lbdr. George Zammit. The programme in- cludes works by Handel, von Weber, Rodrigo, Albinoni, De Haan, Reineke and Rutter as well as works by Maltese com- posers Carmel Callus and Ray Sciberras with arrangements by Capt. Other UNTIL 30 NOVEMBER The Human turned Divine On the occasion of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Mdina Cathedral Museum, the Cathedral Museum Commis- sion is presenting 'The Human turned Divine', an exhibition of important crucifixes spanning the 15th to the 21st centuries. The items on display, many of which are being exhibited for the first time, come from pri- vate, public and ecclesiastical collections. The exhibition, curated by art historian Ma- ria Cassar B.A. (Hons), M.A., will be accompanied by a pub- lication. The exhibition will be open during Museum hours from Mondays. 28 NOVEMBER A surprising collection of historic Malta maps Joseph Schiro, Honorary Secretary of the Malta Map Society, researcher and col- lector of maps will unveil Olof Gollcher's ensemble of antique and unusual maps of Malta and Valletta from the period of the Knights of the Order of St John up to the 20th century. Refreshments will be served to toast the Society's 10th anni- versary. Pre-booking is essential. Kindly secure your place by sending an email on book- ings@palazzofalson.com or calling on 21454512; 10 euro suggested donation per person; 5 euro suggested donation for Friends of Palazzo Falson and Malta Map Society members. 29 DECEMBER Thomas Smith Charity Swim The Thomas Smith Annual Charity swim, a much-awaited annual event and now in its 21st year, will once again be held off the pier by Independence Garden, Sliema, on the 29th of December, under the patronage of the Office of the President. The aim of the yearly Charity swim is to encourage the pub- lic to participate and raise as many funds as possible in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. On the day, registration starts at 09.30hrs and the swim is to commence at 1030hrs. Participants have to fill in a registration form at one of the desk points – one on the promenade and a smaller one by the swimmer zone. UNTIL 29 NOVEMBER Stories at the Museum From Tuesday 26th to Friday 29th November, Heritage Malta is inviting senior citizens to at- tend at the national-communi- ty art museum MUŻA to par- ticipate in an intriguing event which involves the sharing of narratives. The event 'Stories at the Museum' intends to in- spire the participants through two specific artworks that can ignite conversation. Initially ex- amining and sharing the stories which these paintings can tell, participants will then be en- couraged to dwell on particular episodes which they have lived throughout their lives and to share them with others.
